God damn it! Why do I have to be allergic to yogurt?

So, I sprayed a little olive oil onto my tray and then painted yoghurt on the spuds, shook them around a bit and painted a little bit more.

Verdict: I waited until they were half way through dinner and asked if they liked the roasts. " Yeah they are nice".

"Are they any different than usual" I asked.

"errr yeah, they are crunchier on the outside" they mumbled whilst still scoffing them down, more cautiously now though.

So I told them i'd coated them in yoghurt so they all said "ok, yeah they are lovely" Fifteen year old son added that he liked roasts and he liked yoghurt so of course he likes them!

Anyway my verdict is, yes they are crunchier on the outside and they do not taste of yoghurt at all. I shall certainly do it again.... probably not mentioning it to the family as they cant cope with change and eating at the same time :rotfl:

So many thanks to Beer. I never doubted you really :-)
  • at the 'cant cope with change and eating at the same time' - my lot are just like that too!

not sure I'm brave enough to try this, nad we don't normally have natural yogurt in anyway

I do roasties with frylight though, they're not as good as the real thing, but perfectly acceptable and much less oily :)

I've always got natural yoghurt in nowadays thanks to the make your own yoghurt thread!

Honestly give it a go. I didnt put a lot of yoghurt on but it was enough to get that crispiness that is desired on the roast spuds. And of course, once they are smoothered in gravy, theres no difference except that they are healthier.
