I go off to work and come back to find you rowdy lot drinking on the thread. You'd better not spill anything and no smoking in here!
Lovely to "see" you all here and deep thanks for understanding where I was coming from this morning. I'm not someone who shares feelings easily and I was very nervous of exposing myself like that - whoever just gave the dirty laugh put down your drink and get yourself a black coffee:rotfl:
Of course we know on an intellectual level we have a limited time on earth but I suppose a lot of us have a sneaky feeling that an exception will be made in our case:rotfl: Now I know that one day I will get a tap on the shoulder and someone will say "HELLO MA" (another pratchett fan)
Actually I may get myself a small port and lemon and sit myself in the corner there.0 -

I think a party seven was a 7 pint can of bitter;)Give without remembering,receive without forgetting.0 -
Jackie - :rotfl: it was a good year! You are going to miss a good one, take a bottle of Metaxa with you, we got loads! :rotfl:
Party 7 - ah, I show my age - it is what spotty 16 year-old boys took to parties in 1976 - 7 pints of beer in a wee keg, favoured by lads who thought they were all growed!Think big thoughts but relish small pleasures0 -
Happy birthday Mrs Chip, and Smileyt too!
I'll try and pop in for a drink later, just off to dish up dinner
Enjoy yourselves!

21 is fine, none of us are more than 21 in our heads!
Ma - make that a schooner and help yourself to a slice of cold pizza.
1976 - oh what a year, never to be forgotten summer and all life ahead of me - oops sorry, one too many bacardi and cokes, I'm getting maudlin!Think big thoughts but relish small pleasures0 -
Where is Smiley, she has been MIA all day, she's not one to miss a party!Think big thoughts but relish small pleasures0

Thanks for the explanation on what party 7 is all about LOL I thought someone wasn't pressing the shift key hard enough for an exclamation mark (yes I realise that a ! is on number one but hey what can I say......I am a cheap date and that black russian went straight to my head
)

Thank you Bitsy! but as I work during the day and OH works until 10 we'll be snuggled up with a cup of cocoa before...................................................................discussing our electricity and gas usage.Well what else did you think we'd be doing on a Friday night?;):p:DGive without remembering, receive without forgetting.0 -
Just catching up on the pages of partying, mines a vodka and lemonade .
Sorry I'm useless with acknowledging who said what but to the person/people who said live for now, and how things affect individuals - I had a similar experience where someone I didn't know that well died suddenly and that affected me more than any other because it was very unexpected. It was then I decided that I'd live my life for me, the stress I had wasn't worth it, and quit my job, moved to Wales and now have more free time and money than before even though I work fewer hours and earn less. I am thriftier, know all the bargains and appreciate my life much more than before.
I'm also a Pratchett fan and have every book - the first one cost me the princely sum of £2, how times change. I prefer the first wave of books and hanker after Rincewind, luggage and the old gang but as with everything time moves on and I reread them quite often.
.... so now I've pulled down the mood on the party I shall grab a sausage roll, pour another drink and slink off to a corner.:)0
