As Jo is moving house today I'm thinking Nextdoor neighbour? Nearby neighbour? New neighbour? Anyway, those are my guesses which might be completely off the mark. :D

Good luck with the move Jo! I hope it all goes well. :)

Don't suppose you'll see this for a few days but I had to quote from one of Memory Girl's posts on the Matrix thread

Did the "bread-a-nomics" calculation for a journalist yesterday and they were stunned to see that by changing to actually USING their bread maker instead of looking at it that they could save enough over a year to pay off their Credit Card
    a mini light-bulb moment I think.
It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!

    Hi ALl

i've been lurking on this thread and the tougher ones on and off for ages but, having just moved into our own flat for the first time (after sharing a room together in a shared house) we are now super keen to start being a bit more 'practical' ;) about things!

anyway, i'm bigsmoke, i live in london but am from yorkshire (hence the name!) . i work full time in an office and have just moved in with my OH who is an impoverished actor so we're both coming to terms with the changes in our financial situations! I hope you don't mind me following your gossip, i love reading about how you're all getting by (and especially like how laughs seem to be a fundamental part of it!).

i wanted to ask - out of the slow cooker fans, do many of you use them for vegetarian meals, or just for meat?

    thanks!

  • Hi Bigsmoke:D

Just quickly on your sc question - I sometimes go a veg stew in mine and find it's great.

I love veg cooked in it as it keeps the veg (not sure I'm going to describe this well and will make it sound awful:o) not uncooked or raw, but (ohhhh not doing well here at all) firm and the flavours great.

Maybe it would be best to say that you know how sometimes veg can go mushy / overcooked in stews - well that doesn't happen in the sc and they keep their texture.

Phew .... hope that make some sort of sense!:o

    hi rising from the ashes

thanks for that, and it makes perfect sense! i sometimes get really disappointed with soups in particular that some of the veg goes a bit 'school dinners', so sounds like it might work for me.

has anyone ever tried soya mince/quorn/similar in one? suspect it might disintegrate a little....

    thanks
