But surely the fact that you tick the 'yes' box would be recorded somewhere - presumably the BBC would have some record of that or your computer.
they make take a record of your IP address and then contact the provider to find out your address details, but don't know how legal that is, and if it is in the T&C when you tick the yes box and agree, I would need to read them.0 -
Hello all.
I got up this morning and put on clothes to clean the chickens out it, but it's been drizzling since about ten, and I've not braved the weather so far...I must do it today though, even if I get wet
I made a tray of white chocolate, cranberry and almond blondies instead, using the Hummingbird bakery blondie recipe, and guessing at the nuts and stuff. I wanted something that looked christmassy, this was a trial run. They taste nice...I nibbled at the two ends
Has anyone else on here got the hummingbird bakery book? I wondered if someone had tried the lemon drizzle cake? I made some last weekend, and although it turned out fine, there seemed to me to be an awful lot of batter in the tins? I was wondering if it would split between two smaller tins, and cook in less time...
Lakelands Xmas catalogue arrived, and I was prepared to be tempted but it's full of Xmas TAT and hampers us OSers could easily knock out ourselves. There's one called Gamekeepers selection which has two tins of pate (VERY similar to the 3 little jars of pate I bought in Aldi yesterday) a pickle, an onion chutney and a jar of cumberland sauce, plus a packet of posh crackers....£23.49  It's only in a box too...not some fancy basket. Sometimes when these catalogues fall onto my door mat, I can almost hear the advertising departments of various establishments crying "Nooooooooo" as their offerings drop straight into my recycling bin - LOL!
Had a nice chat with my mate on Skype who's stationed in Sri Lanka with her OH, she had the video link on, so we actually 'saw' each other, and had a good old moan about the state of the world. She's been abroad for about five years now, and is dreading moving back here permenantly. She's a lot older than me, so will be coming back as a pensioner when her OH retires...can QUITE see why she's worried.
I called the garage and the welding to get the car through MOT is going to be £250, suppose it could be worse. We'll have to take the other car straight in too when we get the jeep back, as that's acting up too *eyeroll* but hey - at least we can find the ££'s there have been times when we couldn't.
Better stop prevaricating on the internet, and actually make something happen here today, somehow I don't think a tray of brownies counts :rotfl:

I'm feeling like a bloodhound at the moment as I keep having to track you down from one closed down thread to another. From the comments on here that I've caught up on, I won't ask what happened as I'd hate to find out you're all trying to get away from me.
I had a thoroughly depressing visit to the vets with A1 last week. As she listened to his heart it was the equivalent to a tradesman's sharp intake of breath while shaking his head. Hearing this, DD sounded a bit worried being left with him while we visited DS4 on Sunday. It was his 21st birthday and we were going down to take him out for lunch and deliver his cards and prezzies. So we decided to take A1 with us and were very happy we did. It was a beautiful day in West Wales and A1 had a great time on the beach digging and watching all the passers by. He even had some chicken and chips saved from our meal. He's still happily pottering round so I'm going to listen to him, and let him enjoy his remaining time.
DS very happy at Uni and asked if he has to come home for all the Christmas holiday :T. My chick has flown and I'm so happy. It would be awful if he truly hated it. He's been told the TV licencing people are investigating their flat. He's not got a TV as it's one expense we can do without, but two girls did take them. However they haven't been able to find an aerial so the sets are useless. Very interesting reading the talk on here.
FTM I will never look at a feather duster in the same way again :rotfl: and gave DD a good laugh too, she went out with a postie for years. Wonderful news about the babes, but so sorry to hear about your little hen.
After posting that if anything else broke down, it could go whistle, DS3, while up for the weekend, tried to flush to loo, and a piece of plastic broke inside. Two weeks later, only able to flush with a bucket, we were forced to part with more hard earned cash just to get a replacement spring. Oh the joy of a flushing toilet, it's heaven.
It's been battleship grey here all day and I've been doing my best to avoid putting the lights on. Can't see the dust but assuming it's there so dusting anyway. I managed to hurt my back too, not by helping 7 stone ageing dog into the car, but by straightening a throw on the sofa. Blooming dangerous this housework lark.
Sorry I can't help you with the spring cleaning softstuff, no passport and can't afford the fare, but I send you a virtual helping hand. Obi Wan my DC01 Dyson sends his regards to yours too.
Best wishes to you all, love reading your posts.

FTM so sorry to hear about Maisie:(. I'd love to have chickens and am hoping 2012 will be the year....
CCP hope the flat types are sorted - nightmare having 2 so close together and Katieowl hope both cars are sorted soon.
GreyQueen hope you find the drawbridge down and have a lovely time at the homestead.
PIC did you keep all the kittens in the end?
Warning, warning - rant coming - be warned if you read on.....
Sorry about this folks but fuming at the minute and need to get it off my chest of it'll bubble away for the rest of the day.
Just had an energy efficiency company round as there is a grant to get the insulation replaced just now - the houses apparently no longer meet minimum standards.
My neighbour mentioned it the other week but I didn't think much of it as they are over 70 so thought it would be something for older people (have no issue with this).
Anyway, this guy turns up and asks if I've had any info (I haven't) and comes in and does the survey. Before letting him in, I asked if there's a charge (wouldn't have had him over the door if so) and was told "no".
So, we're filling the paperwork and he asks what benefits I get - "none" I reply. Oh, well you'll have to pay 10% then.
Thinking this would be a reasonable amount I asked what it was - £150:eek:. Now I have 2 issues with this - firstly how on earth is the full price of sticking in a bit of insulation £1,500.
Secondly, I realise that many people are struggling so please forgive the next bit, it is not aimed at people on benefits as I know many have a really hard time getting ends to meet ... but there is a family down the road (2 adults, 1 child) who earn more than 4 x what I do and still get benefits.
Like many people, I live alone, earn what is classed as a low income and get no help whatsoever - yet I'm supposed to be able to find money for things like this - and yet people earning much, much more than me, get it free!
Surely people like me have as much right as people who get benefits to have a warm, energy efficient house? Is it really unfair to think that?
If the houses no longer meet standards and need extra insulation put in, then either everyone should get it FOC through the grant, it should be means tested or everyone should have to pay a small fee.
I'm just so fed up with the system beating me down all the time. I wish someone would do a tally of the "extras" that benefits entitle a person to over a year (dentists charges especially spring to mind - how on earth someone on a low income is expected to find £400+ for dentist work is beyond me).

Forgot to say that I've had quite a successful day until the energy man arrived!
Finished sorting the kitchen this morning!:j Loads of lovely cupboards properly sorted!
This afternoon .... well - I've had to take the old dog's bed away - it was a plastic bread basket (the type the sm use) with a duvet folded into the bottom and another over the top.
Unfortunately now his arthritis is getting bothersome, he would end up with a leg stuck over the plastic edge and struggle to get up.
I've been looking for a big soft bed for ages but the pet retailers seem to think that big dogs either don't like soft beds (as many only seem to do small sized ones) or the ones that do make them seem to think that all their owners are rich (which I'm not!).
So, took it away yesterday and just had the duvets on the floor - but he really likes edges to his bed but he wasn't lying in it:(.
DM came up with a fantastic idea when I was speaking to her last night ... and I have spent the afternoon making 3 draft excluder type sausages, stuffed with old pillow filling. I've put these into a bed shape, folded one duvet into the bottom and put the other over the top.
Result - happy dog tucked up in his new bed:j - cost £0 (loads of material lying around and keep all old pillows to make pet beds - usually for the rescue centre).Grocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)

rising - I'm pleased to say that my car is now back on four wheels again.
The guy from the garage had a good look at the two flat tyres and said "I think someone might have let these down deliberately". Grr if he's right.
I haven't done much of anything today thanks to a really vicious headache - it's been hanging around for the past couple of days but was really bad today and has only really eased off in the past few hours. I really hope it goes away now!
The one thing I did do was pop into the supermarket to get some lunch, just as they were yellow stickying things (or actually orange stickying, in this case): I didn't get any really fantastic bargains but I got some of my favourite focaccia rolls for less than a third of the usual price (I only buy them when they've been reduced as I can't justify paying full price for them), and some mini syrup puddings for 70p which I'm looking forward to eating one of later.Back after a very long break!0 -
Rising please be careful of these energy efficiency companies, we had our house done and had to pay £150 towards it.
The house looked like we were inside a snow globe with the mess they made. When they did the survey they knew they needed special ladders to reach over the conservatory but they did not bring them so DH had to lend them his and they broke them.
They also damaged the conservatory roof which leaked onto our new table and as it had a table runner on it and we seldom use the room in the winter we did not notice and the table got ruined. We also had to get the roof fixed, luckily the man who installed it came and repaired it for nothing but those Victorian spikey top things had to be taken off as they could no longer match the style.
They then sent their bill and to cut a long story short we told them to take us to court as the conservatory man had already said he would witness for us. After a year they stopped writing to us but hubby spent many a phone call red faced
we bought our loft insulation from B&Q for a £1 a roll a few years ago
Regarding the cats
Out of the four kittens one went next door (fellow cat nutter) and we kept the other threeonly because I could not bear to part with any of them :rotfl::rotfl:
We are also considering having a rescue cat or having a foster place for a cat. I am un decided and am waiting for the lady to come round for a chat. I won't be able to do anything til after xmas as I need to get all the kitties neutered first. Our local cat rescue has no kennels only volunteers and they have ran out of room to take any more in as they have 90 cats on their books
It breaks my heart and as I work from home I have plenty of time for them. I have not told hubby that they can put up portable heated kennels in the garden;)
The kids are all cat mad by the way
If anyone has fostered before please could you give your opinion, is it better for one forever cat or a fostering place???? help one or help the many???
PIC x0 -
PIC what a nightmare with the insulation - nearly glad I'm not getting it done .... (although still p'd off!)
Re kittens, I thought they'd end up staying right from the moment they were born:D (where has the time gone!).
Re fostering - I know a few people who do it and all love it and say it's fantastic when the kitties / dogs get new homes.
Personally, I couldn't .... I would love to and have thought about it but I know that I just couldn't bear to let them go:o.
There's a really good cat forum (apologies if you're already a member and know this) - Purrs in our Hearts. It deals mainly with rescues / rehoming etc so I'd suggest posting over there and getting some feedback as many people have fostered who post (you have to register but it usually comes through in less than 24 hours).
I saw on the news this morning that all the rescues are reporting huge increases in the intake of animals this year due to families not being able to afford to keep their pets anymore:(. I find this hugely distressing and it must be heartbreaking to be in that position - my animals are such a big part of my life and I can't imagine being without them.
I know all the rescues around here are overflowing too:( - I'd love another couple of cats but unfortunately the "bad tempered (adorable) ginger one" doesn't take to other cats too well (and that's putting it mildly:eek:) - I've only recently managed to get a truce between her and my other one after 3+ years of a dominance fight. Just couldn't risk setting it off again by introducing another.Grocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)
