FTM - I didn't think there was any such thing as 'off topic' on this thread - that's one of the things I like about it.
I had the briefest glimpse of the yellow ball first thing this morning - about 5 minutes of it - and it's now vanished back behind rain clouds.I'm off work sick today with a headache that won't shift so at least I don't have to go out in it, I suppose: all I need to do today is play listlessly with my essay (:o) and read the forum, with occasional breaks as I'm sure looking at the screen really isn't helping matters. (I must go and do something else - in a minute.
)
Re: mash - I eventually decided to freeze the leftovers from last night and slot them into my mealplan for next week: I've got enough for two more one-person meals, which indicates just how much I over-catered by.Back after a very long break!0 -
What a lovely morning so far. Woke to the sky being blue and a ball of brightness doing a pretty good job of throwing out some heat rays - although its not lasted and the sky is turning back to the grey/white it prefers to be
And I have to say I feel a lot better as well - worse of the cold is by so Im going to get of my backside and get the inside of the car cleaned. Its been so wet that Ive not cleaned it in months and not only did I have to take down spider webs from the back seat last week - I also had to evict a snail
Then off to get the new tyres put on and I think as a treat I shall get a coffee in town and people watch for a while.
MIL is up and down, shes a lot brighter but the colitis is causing her so much pain still she still cant eat or drink. Hopefully the doctors can get that eased for her. The step dad is as improved as he is ever going to get and I think the SW's are going to be assessing him this week aiming to get him home again. Hes very difficult to manage as he wants my mum to do everything for him and wont accept day care. The only help he will accept so far is a lass in to bath him once a week as mum can no longer do it. Still I suppose as long as he can walk as far as the toilet we should be able to manage him at home.
Right Im away to do something constructive before I change my mind0 -
Hello Everyone
I've been out shopping with DH on two days running and have spent this much :eek::eek::eek::eek:
We have DS2's christmas present and the trip to Aldi today filled the car with boxes and bottles of beer. DFIL loved the beer selection we gave him last year and wants the same this year, but two bottles of everything. So that if he likes a certain type he has another bottle to look forward to. So far the count is 8 different types.
I'm also giving some male friends a selection of 6 different beers in one of those cardboard carriers. I'm thinking of printing out pics of their favourite female celebs and decoupaging the carriers.
Right now I'm resisting the lure of the chocolate biscuits and watching A Charlie Brown Christmas, which DH found on the internet for me
YS Spicy pork chops with roasted peppers and sweet potato mash for dinner tonight I think with apple and pear cake for pudding. Can you tell what the Aldi super 6 are?
*hugs to those that need/want them*0 -

Good luck to everyone who is writing to their MP.
I wrote to mine several months ago regarding the TV licence and my objection to having to pay it. I had read on here if you do not watch live TV then you do not need one...etc and wanted written confirmation of this. I had a reply that was a load of waffle but did not answer my question so I asked again, same response, then finally I had a reply with the answer tucked away in a load of other waffle :rotfl:
In my original letter I explained that we were financially struggling and the £145 a year would be better put towards our heating bill. In one of his responses he said that " We are all going through difficult times" Well I blinkin well beg to differ. When I saw him shopping the other week there were definitely no value products in his trolley :rotfl::rotfl:
We do not watch live TV only films and believe it or not the boys do not miss it either which we thought they would. They play computer games etc but they have not complained once about not having it, DS even commented that when he goes to his Dads they "just sit there and watch TV all the time it's soooooooo boring :rotfl::rotfl:
IMO it should be a choice like you CHOOSE to subscribe to a movie or sports channel.
Sorry for going on but MPs make me go  and MPs remind me of the TV licence which makes me go  :rotfl::rotfl:
If I sit and think about the changes to the kids since our "light bulb moment" they do question the value of everything. The youngest had one of those letters from school about a VOLUNTARY payment towards the school outing. When he came home he said "it is hardly voluntary is it as they are saying if everyone does not pay we can't afford to go and how can it cost that much as they are making us walk and its free to get in " :rotfl::rotfl: he had a valid point I think
GreyQueen I also struggled to join freecycle and I have worked on computers for 10 years :rotfl:
I did sausage casserole last night for tea with whoopsie cocktail sausages at 15p a tub (bought 2 tubs) it was fine and no one notice they were cocktail sausages
I agree with who said the sky looks full of snow. Thanks to the prepare for winter thread we have not had to put our heating on but we are going to bed a lot earlier. DH is complaining about my choice of bedroom attire though (fleece lumberjack shirt and wool socks).

The sun has been out for the last couple of hours, and we had our lunch (HM leek & potato soup HM bread) up in the garden with the cat. Little birds buzzing about everywhere, I think they are as confused as we are with the weather. The rhododendron is in full bloom .
Lovely OTMen came at 8 and did a lot of rubbing of chins and measuring. After several different ideas that included winching a tank down in a net, they think they will be able to take the old tank out through the house and bring a new one in the same way (subject to more measuring being done back at base) :j:j:j. It would appear this option is substantially cheaper than the others :j:j:j and they can possibly do it Monday :j:j:j.
I have promised copious quantities of HM cake (I will make DS Damp Gingerbread, infallable and delicious) and a victoria sponge I think. Twinks are also in order, they would charm any workmen!Think big thoughts but relish small pleasures0 -
That's great news Mrs chip :j:j0

No yellow ball here
it's not as cold as it has been though, so heating is still definitely off.
Just had some fantastic news that will be brilliant if it comes to fruition, I won't tempt fate by telling anyone yet, although I am dying to!
I need to do some serious decluttering though, best get moving.0 -
I've got it....It's here....The YELLOW BALL. Off to take my doggles out!!!
