I completely agree, cazzap06, I personally haven't a clue where to look for anything anymore.

And Artha, I would estimate that my till recipts are wrong (overcharging) at least 40% of the time, and no, I don't actively seek out DTD. Even my husband now knows to check the receipt on the odd occasions he goes shopping. It's the result of Tesco's ridiculous pricing policy, where prices now shoot up and down on a short term basis so they can try and fool us into thinking they've reduced the price. To put these comments into context I basically like Tesco and am a long term customer, albeit on my own shopping terms.
    Hope is not a strategy.
  • It looks like it will be resolved now as Wings post states ''My current policy is this: if something is a short-term offer, it can stay on the Grabbit board. If it is not short-term, e.g. a permanent price reduction or a good permanent deal or even a VERY good permanent deal, it will be moved, regardless of how many people may miss it. If it is not a short-term offer, it is not a Grabbit, and should not be on the Grabbit board.''

Alot if most of the grabbits which were moved WERE short term offers , very short term some of them and so they were definitely grabbits!

So if ALL the grabbit board guides stick to this then there will not be any more problems with removing / moving the wrong posts ie valid grabbits which should remain on the board!! :D

Artha , I was defending your post but aren't you generalising here? .... I personally only shop in T's about once a month as like many people I don't have one nearby and moving the posts didn't affect my whole life but to a family on a low income it can make all the difference
It was meant to be tongue in cheek hence the wink. I have actually seen some people posting that they spend a large amount of time most days either in Tesco, travelling to and from Tesco and looking through these threads. There have been times when i've got caught up in the bargain hunting and had to tell myself that it's getting silly and out of proportion despite the fact that, being retired through redundancy and OH now only working part time, we are on what would be considered to be a low income.

I am a Grabbit Board Guide.

My current policy is this: if something is a short-term offer, it can stay on the Grabbit board. If it is not short-term, e.g. a permanent price reduction or a good permanent deal or even a VERY good permanent deal, it will be moved, regardless of how many people may miss it. As for the poll, I am taking little notice of it, and my reason is this: I have read many threads over the past few days where arguments about this board have been taking place, and have seen many, many posts almost begging people to go and vote 'Yes'. As such, my personal opinion is that the results are skewed and irrelevant.

MSE Andrea's post at the beginning of this thread sums up the wishes and views of the MSE team, and it is this on which I have based my policy regarding the moving of threads.

I'd like to remind you that BG's are volunteers (I have a full-time job, and do this to help a site I love), and usually long-term members of the forums. This:

...is not appreciated. I'd like to remind you that it is not YOUR forum or my forum. It belongs to MSE and they will decide how it is run. Don't forget that.

I understand that emotions on this subject are high, but the truth of the matter is that you cannot please all of the people all of the time, and EVERYONE needs to accept a level of compromise. Even now, I still get PM's every day from users with lists of threads which they think should be moved off the Grabbit board. Some of these are valid, some are not. Only a short while ago, the main complaint of the board was that every thread was a Tesco thread. Now it has swung the other way, with the loudest complaints being that there are too many threads being moved. It is a delicate balance, and there are just 5 Grabbit BG's (possibly 4 after the disgusting abuse directed at our most recent recruit) to deal with it all, so we may not get it right all of the time.

I hope that clears up a few things, and goes some way to explaining what criteria I personally use when deciding whether to move a Grabbit. I welcome any questions or comments via PM, but any abuse will, as always, be reported.

Wings, Thank you for that, Basically all most people wanted to hear was that the SHORT TERM offers were going to stay on the grabbit board. When grabbits such as the pork mince, which was a definite glitch and short term, disappeared within about 10 minutes, I think some panic set in amongst some of us;) I think that most of us will agree that the long term offers should move to other boards.

As far as the poll, I started that to see if it was just a few that were concerned about some of the grabbits being moved, or if it was the minority. I appreciate that it may seem skewed to some, but due to the fact that it was moved pretty quickly, unless the links were posted to it most people were'nt even aware of it. If people were having difficuty finding some grabbits they had no chance in finding the
    poll;)

I would like to say thank you to all the board guides for all the work they put in which is appreciated and any form of abuse towards them is totally wrong and is something that I personally have never participated in, I treat people as I would like to be treated myself:)

I know that you will never please all of the people all of the time, what a strange world it would be if we were all the same:) But if the short term grabbits stay on the grabbit board then I think the majority will be happy;)

Thanks again to all the mods and hopefully we can all draw a line under this as everyone is clear that the short term grabbits will be staying.

Way too complicated. Define short term please. Do you mean time limited, or one which is a glitch and may get fixed, or how about a deal thats good so the stock will vanish quickly?

I think the way you dismissed the poll was arrogant. Nikkilala begged people to VOTE, not which way to vote. The amount of no votes was pitiful and with the thick end of 1000 votes cast was highly relevant.

What was wrong with the suggestion by many that all Tesco related stuff has its own separate board as its almost entirely Tesco related threads which seem to irritate some posters for whatever reason. It would be far easier and the grabbit board would shrink in an instant so even if the odd thread that shouldnt be there hung around for a while it wouldn't clutter the board up.

    I also didn't like this....

Forums belong to the members who post on them. Without posters and input from the members, a forum is just a piece of empty software. Comments such as this only serve to irritate the people who make this forum what it is.

    Honestly.

    Reasonable man thinks:
Oh, I'm thinking of looking for some food offers. What board would be most appropriate when I'm looking for FOOD offers. Oh look, there's a grocery shopping board - that seems the obvious place to look for food offers".... and off you go!

It's worked for YEARS... a lot longer than some of those who are complaining they can't find anything have been members for!!!

Firstly this is not directed at you personally. Your comment just sparked some general thoughts.

I have personally never had a problem knowing where to find things and once you realise that site like this is fluid and ever changing it's easy. I saw the notorious pork mince post, noticed it had gone, and then found it again. Simples.

If people had to pay to use the site then I think that the complaints may be justified but it is of course completely free and run by mainly volunteers who have a hard time pleasing everyone. It is as much a social networking site as a money saving site is by no means perfect if all you want to do is log on, find a bargain and go and get it. If anyone finds a bargain as a result of seeing a posting then they should count themselves lucky. If they miss one or two then it's not life changing. If they feel it is a disaster then I would suggest they need to seek some help quick

I have been on this site for long enough to witness the fiasco that was rNR when lists started being published and another site sprang up publishing lists without any discussion that could be printed off. It wasn't too long after that when rNr was pulled. Although of little importance to me I see DTD heading for modification (as it did with price check). My advice to some would be don't kill the goose that lays the golden egg

On a much lighter note Id like to know which Tesco you shop at! I think I'm going to have to start doing my regular shopping elsewhere. Surely I can't be the only one that has only had the one in a million overcharge?
