  • Does anyone have an address for them yet, I had a loan 2004/2005 & would like to know who & where to post the claim form??? Thanks
  • Hi
Just thought i'd share some information about Halifax Cetelem.

Halifax Cetelem as you are probably aware has shut down and the company was placed into 'Members Voluntary Liquidation' and is no longer trading.

There where some issues with BNP Pariba and Halifax Cetelem trying to clear up there debts so they have appointed 'EY' or better known as Ernst & Young LLP to handle the case. Halifax Cetelem racked up allot of debt and debtors and they seemed to all be distributed amongst debt management companies.

The 'Joint' liquidators that are handling the case are 'Mr Phillip R Heddell' and his senior 'Kerry Lynne Trigg'.

    There address is:
    Ernst & Young LLP
    1 More London Place
    London
    SE1 2AF.

    And telephone number is:
    020 7951 2000.

They are dealing with all the PPI matters regards to Halifax Cetelem.

I've also put in a claim for a computer I bought on 07/02/03 where the telephone sales rep had misinformed me about PPI. Halifax Cetelem obviously provided me with the loan.

In my first letter which I sent on 19/11/2013 I included my original contract with Halifax Cetelem and bank statements showing the amount I was paying as they asked me to.

On 23/12/2013 I received a letter from them stating that 'there was no evidence that you where mis-sold, we regret that we are unable to agree your claim'.

On hearing this I wrote another letter highlighting to them in clearer English stating that the Halifax Cetelem's Rep or sales guy told me to take the PPI as it would help me get the loan to buy my computer. As I was only a university student.
I also informed phillip r heddel and kerry lynne trigg that Halifax Cetelem should have electronic recordings of the conversation as they stated on the phone when I bought the computer.

I am still waiting for my reply...

You've already complained and been "fully and finally" rejected, you cannot simply go on complaining unless you bring some new aspect (or evidence) that hasn't already been considered. No point just re-wording your original complaint!

Your complaint is about a sale of PPI which took place two years before regulation (January 2005) and your complaint can therefore be rejected on that basis alone.

Do you really think they will have kept a recording of your telephone call from eleven years ago?

    Thanks for the advice.

I was just sharing some information with any person who wants to make a claim against Halifax Cetelem. My personal research led to the 'liquidators' of the company ernst & young. As there are so many people who where 'conned' out of there money.
  • I successfully claimed PPI of £1600 in January 2015, which referred to a loan taken out in 2003.
Halifax Cetelem subsequently became Clydesdale Financial Services, a wholly owned subsidiary of Barclays Bank PLC and a trading name of Barclays Partner Finance.

The address to write to is:
    Barclays Partner Finance
    PO Box 2501
    Cardiff
    CF23 0FP

If it helps, this is a copy of the letter I sent. I got the refund within a 3 weeks.

    Dear Sir

    Re: Loan Agreement************

I believe I was mis-sold PPI on the above loan. The original loan was taken through HalifaxCetelem, which subsequently became Clydesdale Financial Services, a wholly owned subsidiary of
Barclays Bank PLC and a trading name of Barclays Partner Finance.

I have enclosed acopy of the loan agreement. I was not made aware that the PPI was optional, I assumed it had to be taken as part of the loan agreement. I have calculated the cost of the PPI that I have paid is £1851.00. At no time was I informed that I could have taken out insurance independently at a much reduced cost.

I have also enclosed a copy bank statement showing the direct debit was taken by Clydesdale Financial Services Ltd.

I look forward to your full and prompt response.

    Good Luck

    Timeframe and amount = auto-payout

Good job on your win but the first reason is unprovable and second is invalid (there was no more requirement for them to tell you it was available elsewhere than there is for a Waitrose employee to tell you it would be cheaper at Aldi) so bank just getting rid of your complaint without investigating

Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:

People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

  • Great to see a few successful claims here.

Its taken me two years to find out the name of the company. All I knew was that I was sold a loan and told that I would only be accepted if I took PPI in a Halifax branch by a Halifax employee.

I don't have the original Loan agreement as I now live on the other side of the world.

I had a similar response - That Ernst and Young are dealing with all Halifax Cetelem cases. Address - 1 Moore London Place, London, SE1 2AF. They have said they are closing my case however, I have asked them to provide bank statements showing the payments so that I can further evidence the loan.

If I do get the details from my bank statements I will try the Barclays Partner finance route as per Gillbert above.

This thread is from 2011 and user "Gilbert" complained in 2014 so I doubt you'll get any responses other than this one.

It's rare for Bank statements to be useful in a PPI complaint. If they are already saying that they have no records, a bank statement won't help you prove that you had PPI. You are not complaining about the loan, only the insurance attached to it.

What year are we talking about here?
