So what did they confirm? UK warranty is 24months? as stated in my leaflet?
I went on chat support (love chat support as get answers straight away), and she confirmed UK warranty is 24 months on manufacturing faults (not accidental but thats same with everything)

She said the old site details regarding 12 months was cached.

So does this make a difference to you? 24 months, I don't hinkI'll have the phone this long anyway, and to sell it with a warranty still is great I gave her my serial number and she confirmed was last month warranty started, unless I can prove from receipt, which I can. But still even with no receipt, for a 2nd hand purchaser, the warranty is there with the serial number.

Support seemed fine, although I hope I don't have to use them, and its different sending something away for repair.

Still awaiting mine to charge and then have a blast, looks and feels great though. Now got to sell my iPhone 4 to offset some of the cost!!

Nope. I'm not risking HTC's CS. I really would love to get it. But there are still far to many 'current' complaints about HTC customer servies. It appears they've not upped their game since being outed on watchdog. :(

Oh dear, I hope I don't have to use them then :o The chat service was fine, prompt replies, checking with manager etc. What was on the watchdog program about the complaints? what was wrong? when was it? was it UK specific?

Defo get a 24 month warranty, so thats good, and they have to fix it if its a manufacturer fault within the 24months

    Is this it?

Whats the Galaxy S2 like, it it worth considering. I know its put up against the Sensation. But when I handled the S2, it felt very plastic and flimsy. What about the Android OS on the Samsung ?

This is a theme with the Samsung Galaxy S 2... just because it's light doesn't mean that it's flimsy. At all. I too was under this impression when deciding over the Sensation or Galaxy S2. It's just a strange perception everyone has that if you pick something up that feels heavy/heavier it must be more 'solid'.

In actual fact, the GS2 is very solid in it's own right. It's very well built and some real thought has been put into the design which I would think had weight as one of it's main considerations. Nothing bends or creaks, at least with mine. When I first got it, I couldn't even get the battery cover off without the help of a plastic credit card to lever it off - it was that tightly on! People say that the paper-thin battery cover must be flimsy too.. But if you watch this video:

    It might change your mind?

I've come to get used to the weight (or lack of weight) of the GS2.

I chose the Galaxy S 2 over the Sensation and I have no regrets at all with it. No idea what this pink spot thing is although I can't say I've been trying very hard to look for it, I've not noticed it in any pictures I've taken.

I too came from a HD2 - which is a great phone too. However, the speed of the GS2 is amazing. I'm talking about general day to day use, you'll notice the smoothness of the interface as you use it rather than synthetic benchmarks which mean nothing.

Ironically, it's now a choice between the Samsung and iphone. The only reason I would go down the iphone route is, firstly, I own both a touch and ipad so I would have a universal OS in all three. Secondly, I have confidence in Apples CS in the event of a fault. However, the Samsung would fullfill the needs for an Android phone of that spec. It will come down to a decision on the day of purchase (flip a coin, I suppose). However, HTC are no longer an option, the have some serious PR work to do in convincing me and others like me to consider there products for the foreseeable future.

At first I was also dead set on getting the Sensation but after reading many, many reviews it is almost universally agreed that the Galaxy S 2 is the better of the two. This eventually persuaded me to change my mind and I decided to purchase online - if only to be covered by the Distance Selling Regulations in the event that I didn't get on with it I could return it. Maybe this might a better idea for you rather than buying it from a shop as once you sign the dotted line you will be locked in for 18/24 months.

I didn't consider an iPhone 4 (at the time the 4s wasn't released) - mainly because of two factors. The first was the price, in terms of overall cost, the price of an iPhone is higher for what's in my opinion comparable (if not worse) feature set/terms for a phone + contract. Secondly, at the time it made absolutely no sense to get an iPhone 4 as the next model was going to be introduced so soon. (I got my Galaxy S 2 about a month ago).

With the release of the 4S, I'm slightly underwhelmed by the lack of innovation. It's basically a tweaked/bug fixed iPhone 4. I've used an iPhone 4 while it is undeniable that the user interface experience is brilliant, it's just feels too 'dumbed down' for me. I know you can jailbreak but here you're left at the whim of those who release jailbreak hacks. You could be left hanging for a long time to get a jailbreak hack release. This is not to mention you've got partial jailbreaks (untethered) which means that if your phone dies/crashes/resets for whatever reason you'd need to be near a computer to get it going again. (Don't give me that iPhones don't crash - they aren't that amazing!)

I can understand why you'd want to get an iPhone to complement your existing set of Apple products you already own. For me, I think I'd just want a change as it's all the same OS on each device. Each to their own though.

Good luck with your choice, I don't think you can go wrong with either!

I like to have different OS/manufacturers too :p my current "toys" line up consists of: iPod (120GB classic), Samsung Galaxy S2, HP TouchPad (32GB - managed to get one in the firesale), Samsung netbook, Kindle 3, Sony 650... I've also kept my HTC HD2.

just to throw a spanner in the works, have you also considered the new Motorola Droid Razr or whatever they've called it (which looks rather nice!) or the Samsung Galaxy Nexus?

I'm patiently waiting until the iphone is fully stocked. I can already see the knock on effect it's having on prices. ;)

I'll be a bit peeved as you say if the XE plummets in price soon, but hey, only live once! :D

On Amazon, the XE as dropped from £489 to £435.30 in the space of three working days. At that rate Amazon will be paying the customer for ownership by the first week in November ;)
