I may have been wrong in interpreting what I saw online:
    http://service.europe.htc.com/Terms.aspx
2.2 In warranty Repair In-Warranty repair means a repair carried out on a unit within 12 months of its purchase.
    ...
2.4 Out-Of-Warranty chargeable repair Repair to a unit which is carried out after 12 months from the date of purchase shall be classified as an "Out-Of-Warranty" chargeable repair.
After searching more I found this:
    http://www.htc.com/www/help/warranty-statement/
This Limited Warranty shall last for twenty-four (24) months
    Very confusing...

It may be an HTC CS smokescreen to them to walk away from their responsabilitys according to which rule they choose at that moment in time.

i.e accusing you of not looking after your phone and charging you to repair or to return. This appears to be a common complaint at the moment from people who are still having issues getting their phone repaired.

My other alternative is the Samsung galaxy s2, but whats all this pink spot issue about ?

ok, the pink spot... Has to do with the camera, can be found in most smartphones (I had it on my HTC HD2, I have it somewhat less on my S2, also reported on some iPhones and various other manufacturers) basically under certain lighting conditions (mostly daylight indoors when photographing light backgrounds such as a plain wall and depending on where the light is coming from) then the software somehow isn't quite able to cope and the centre of the picture has a pink-ish hue. I wouldn't worry too much about it unless you have some kind of fetish photographing white or light walls :rotfl:

edit: and then on forums you'll find pages and pages of people taking pictures of plain bits of paper or walls to show the issue. I'm not saying it's not there, but under "real life" conditions, it's rarely a problem. For the HD2, an updated camera patch certainly improved things, and the same on the S2 with an updated apk from Samsung

I don't think that they can chose because your phone comes with a printed warranty leaflet. If it says '24' in the leaflets and on the main HTC website it makes no sense to say '12' on the European website.

I've been know to ask the wall to strike a pose :D

Whats the Galaxy S2 like, it it worth considering. I know its put up against the Sensation. But when I handled the S2, it felt very plastic and flimsy. What about the Android OS on the Samsung ?

I haven't tried the Sensation so I can't compare really. I've come from a HD2 (which was running dual-boot thanks to XDA). Frankly, I really, really like the S2, it's incredibly light and now the HD2 does feel like a brick in comparison. Android is very fast on the S2, had mine since they came out and have had zero issues (no freeze, no self-reboot... Nothing...) all running well. I did keep it full stock for about a month to make sure all was well. After that, rooted but still running stock roms for now (though I don't wait for Samsung to release via kies - I just flash the leaked roms found on XDA - the latest one is butter-smooth :p ) I do however bin some of the Samsung bloatware that I am never going to use. The devs will be busy cooking ICS roms as soon as the source code is released so at point I'll probably go custom.

I might take another look, Damn HTC and their stupid customer service. I'm wandering around like a headless chicken trying to replace my phone :(

    Received a reply from HTC:
The first link you have provided is information about our old statement, this has since then been changed but is still cached on the internet therefore it is still accessible, but not correct any longer.
They are right: I cannot navigate to this page from the home page of the EU website.
