    actually these are being sold by a private individual at amazon rather than amazon itself.

    if you click on "10 used & new" then you will get the list of sellers.
    amazon is selling them for £193.54.
    the £82.16 unit is being sold by a seller called "extremepcs"...who only has 4 ratings...

    I dont see there being much risk involved if you pay with a credit card and do it through Amazon. They are selling the 30gb version for £68.93, not sure if this makes it more genuine or even more suspect??

  • Covered by amazon a-z guarantee

    A-to-z Safe Buying Guarantee Protection

    What is the Amazon.co.uk A-to-z Guarantee?

    We want you to buy with confidence anytime you make a purchase at Amazon.co.uk. That's why, when you purchase at Amazon.co.uk Marketplace, Auctions and zShops, we guarantee the condition of the items you buy and their timely delivery with the A-z Safe Buying Guarantee. As you pay for your item immediately using Amazon Payments, the security of your credit card information is also guaranteed under our Security Guarantee.

    After reading carefully through the guidelines below, click the link to submit your claim:

    In what circumstances am I covered under the A-to-z Safe Buying Guarantee?

    * You provided payment to the seller, but the seller failed to deliver the item.
    * You received the item, but the item was materially different than as depicted in the seller's description.

    When is a product "materially different" than what the seller advertised?

    If a seller has clearly misrepresented the condition or details of an item in a way that affects its value or utility, it is "materially different" and the seller should be willing to offer a refund or exchange. If the seller does not offer a refund or exchange, your purchase is eligible for the A-to-z Safe Buying Guarantee.

    Items are considered "materially different" in these circumstances:

    * Wrong version or edition
    * Item condition or details not as described
    * Wrong item
    * Missing parts or components
    * Defective item
    * Damaged item

    When submitting an A-to-z Safe Buying Guarantee claim with the reason "materially different," you'll need to select one of the reasons above and provide comments explaining why the item you received is materially different from the item you purchased.

    Please note that this does not extend to cases where you are simply disappointed with an item. Amazon.co.uk will ultimately determine material difference at our discretion.

    What are the requirements of the A-to-z Safe Buying Guarantee?

    * The item must be purchased from an Amazon Marketplace, Auctions, zShops or other third party Merchant Seller on the Amazon.co.uk website. Purchases from Amazon.co.uk or Borders & Books etc. are not eligible.
    * You must wait 3 calendar days past the maximum estimated delivery date for an order or 30 days from the order date, whichever is sooner. You can submit a claim up to 90 days after the order date.
    * Buyers are limited to a lifetime maximum of five claims for Amazon Marketplace, Auctions and zShops purchases.
    * You must provide the required information on the guarantee claim form.
    * If you paid by credit card, and the issuing bank has initiated a chargeback, then you are not eligible for coverage under the A-to-z Safe Buying Guarantee.
    * Auctions and zShops purchases made before March 3, 2005, that are not settled with Amazon Payments--for instance, those paid by cheque or money order--are eligible for up to 150 GBP in A-to-z Safe Buying Guarantee coverage, provided buyers are residents of the USA, the UK, or Germany. Delivery charges will not be included.

    How much coverage will I receive?

    Buyers who pay for Amazon Marketplace, Auctions or zShops purchases using Amazon Payments (you should not use any other payment method) are eligible to receive up to 2000 GBP of the purchase price, including delivery charges.

    How do I file a claim?

    If you're a U.K. resident, sign in here and proceed to the UK claim form. Residents of Germany should sign in here and proceed to the German claim form page. Residents of the USA should sign in here and proceed to the US claim form. Amazon will typically complete the processing of your claim within 1 to 2 weeks.

    What happens after submitting a claim?

    We appreciate your patience and cooperation during the processing period and we may contact you for additional information. We may also attempt to contact the seller to encourage him or her to work directly with you to resolve the problem. Please contact us if you reach a settlement with the seller while we are processing your A-to-z Safe Buying Guarantee claim.

    Are all purchases backed by the A-to-z Safe Buying Guarantee?

    Yes. If you meet the conditions above, you're covered.

    What does it cost?

    Buyers are covered at no cost. We're committed to creating a safe buying experience at Amazon.co.uk. If you have additional questions about the A-to-z Guarantee, please contact us.

    What countries are covered by the A-to-z Safe Buying Guarantee?

    Amazon Marketplace, Auctions and zShops customers who use Amazon Payments and who reside in the following countries are covered under our A-to-z Guarantee: Austria, Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Great Britain, Hong Kong, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Republic of Korea, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Northern Ireland, Norway, Portugal, Scotland, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, and the United States. (Note: U.S. protectorates, including Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands, Guam, American Samoa, APO/FPO, etc., are also supported by Amazon Payments.)

    How do I cancel a pending claim?

    You can contact us to indicate that the transaction has been resolved. Sellers will need to contact the buyer and encourage them to write to us in order to revoke or cancel a pending claim.
