Wonder how many prices will rise this week to pay for that "offer"0

Not amazing I agree, but considering ASDA guaranteeing to be 10% cheaper than the others already makes them the cheapest in the vast majority of cases, an extra £25 between now and Christmas for your normal shopping is certainly a decent offer.
So £5 off £80 isn't accurate when you are doing it over consecutive weeks. First fortnight it is £5 off £80, then each subsequent week is £5 off £40.
Only runs for one week : from now until 23 October : so IS really only £5 off when you spend £80 ( unless you plan on visiting Asda many times this week and spending over £40 each time )

I quite like my local Asda - it's clean and bright and the staff are polite and helpful. And they often have very real bargains. But a bargain to me is something actually on the shelf at a low price. I say that as an admission that I'm rarely impressed by vouchers or other jump-through-hoops offers in the first place.
And this voucher offer (like one or two of theirs I've tried before) isn't worth the trip or the effort. I spent £50-odd in Asda the other day (not even knowing about this offer). But £5 is £5 so after reading about this in MSE I entered my receipt details into their website. To be told my purchases did not meet the t&c of the offer. That may well be true - but as a customer I really DON'T CARE!
For heaven's sake Asda - give us a bargain or don't - but make your mind up. Don't announce an offer in large print then use small print to avoid it - you may be legally in the right, but that's a poor excuse if the result is annoyed customers.
In any case, £5 off a total of £80 - and then only by phoning or going online? Not exactly knocking themselves out are they? I can do better than that any day of the week just by careful shopping.0 -

I would have to disagree. I get Asda Price Guarantee vouchers so often I am shocked when they do come back 10% cheaper!! Has happened maybe twice out of dozens of shops.0 -
Funnily enough when I shop at Tesco and price check they are always cheaper than Asda. When I shop at Asda and price check they are always cheaper than Tesco and the rest. I can't win - but the supermarket always does. It's 5 o'clock somewhere!0

Strangely my experience is almost the opposite. I do the pricecheck and only get a voucher occasionally. I think it's because I only buy in Asda/pay full price for anything I can't get anywhere else. I suppose it's like a previous poster said, I save more by shopping around than the £5 or the pricecheck vouchers. I think that maybe those who might gain most would be those who only shop at Asda either because of time/transport constraints or lack of choice in their area.
The £5 will be welcome but it would be easier if they all just stopped faffing about, but that's just not going to happen:(0 -

I got my voucher yesterday. I didn't really need all that much as we're away during the week but no problem to stock up some wine and other stuff.
Strangely I have been in Tesco and Sainsburys this week. Tesco gave me a £5 off clothing voucher and Sainsburys £3 off £30. Things are really hotting up in the price wars!0 -
Where do Tesco give £5 vouchers for no minimum spend?0

All the foregoing messages are very upbeat. However, I was surprised that nobody seems to have complained about difficulties obtaining their £5 after spending £40. Having shopped at the correct time when I went online I could not get my voucher, the store could not help because they had no one on duty to attend to my problem. Emailed Asda twice with promises of a reply within 2-3 days still nothing. To add insult to injury when I endeavoured to add my Till receipt online this week for the 10% comparison it kept telling me they had no record of my Receipt.
I have to wonder why we get caught up in these scams.0
