Ring your lone parent advisor and get an appt asap so you can put a plan together!
The biggest nightmare is trying to sort childcare (although it should be slightly easier for you as your lo is at school) - this has been my biggest barrier to getting a new job, but I've managed it and found a new job within 4 weeks of being made redundant (begs to question the whole 'there's no jobs' outcry!)
I'm applying for my MA and have to have 2500 hours of work experience for that (18months) and they're very picky about what meets their criteria! Fortunately, I do have enough, just got to get that application form in now

Out of interest what course is it? I've never heard of a college course needing work experience before the course rather than during.
Its a veterinary nursing degree. The course spec states.......
"Before enrolling on this course, applicants must have attended an interview at the College and have completed at least 6 weeks of work experience in a Veterinary surgery. Students will need a Veterinary nursing placement to be admitted onto the programme."
Sorry its 6 weeks experience not 60!!!! typo
Ahhh, 6 weeks makes more sense. 60 weeks was a lot for anyone
Moving onto a better place...Ciao :wave:0 -

The benefits system (both JSA and IS) are not set-up to be able to cope with this situation (ie someone making themselves unavilable for work through a unpaid work experience).
I suggest you either put the course on hold or make other financial plans for the duration of your course.
You can't claim JSA as you are not available for work, and you can't claim IS (as a single parent) as your children ages don't fit the new rules.
You need to double check your decision to take this course is affordable.
D70How about no longer being masochistic?
How about remembering your divinity?
How about unabashedly bawling your eyes out?
How about not equating death with stopping?0
