Funnily enough iv just received a letter this morning saying as of Oct 31st 2011 my income support will be reacessed and i'll be put onto JSA. My problem is that my little boys scool hours are 8:45-3:15 and im struggling to find any jobs to fit into this time gap. (This is the reason im unable to apply for the job i talked about in a previous post.) I'm due to start a degree at college in sept 2012 and im starting work experience for this in the next few months. So im not able to get a job now or while im at college next year so what happens???
They say i cant get income support but i cant go on JSA either if i cant work?!?! so what will i be put on?
thanks.0 -

why would you be starting work experience a year before your course?0 -
I was going to do the course this year but i was late in enrolling so the course leader said that iv got a great opportunity to spend the next year reading books and getting my work experience log done/started. I need 60 weeks of work experince done to be able to enroll in sept.0

Welcome to the world of working single mums
We all have the same problem
You'll probably have to do your work experience during your course as everyone else does. Or make sure that the company you are doing work experience with, know that you'll have to leave at short notice id a job comes up. Otherwise you'll lose your JSA and won't be entitled to anything.Moving onto a better place...Ciao :wave:0 -
Just read up on the course again, when im doing to course i have to have a paid placement so actually it wont matter next year but until sept i need to do the work experience.....its an entry requirement to get onto the course.

Out of interest what course is it? I've never heard of a college course needing work experience before the course rather than during.
If you're determined to carry on with the course, it looks like you may have to forgo any benefits for yourself and rely on CTC, as if you're not job seeking you won't be entitled to JSA, and as your child is older you're not entitled to IS.Moving onto a better place...Ciao :wave:0 -

Its a veterinary nursing degree. The course spec states.......
"Before enrolling on this course, applicants must have attended an interview at the College and have completed at least 6 weeks of work experience in a Veterinary surgery. Students will need a Veterinary nursing placement to be admitted onto the programme."
Sorry its 6 weeks experience not 60!!!! typo0 -
