Does an EA have to tell you..?

And as between 50 and 100 construction workers a year sadly lose their life "on site" even buying a new-build wouldn't guarantee no-one had ever died at the property.Every generation blames the one before...

Again, its just the thought that it may have happened so soon. No, I know it doesn't bother everyone. I wasn't opening a debate on the psychology of my decisions, just a question. I thank you for your replies though.
Ok, so you've had your answer about the EA but, just as a bit of added info, if someone had died in the house very recently, you'd know by the smell
I don't mean to be insensitive or gross but, believe me, the smell of death is extremely pungent. I once viewed a house which was a probate sale and I had to breathe through my mouth rather than nose or I'd have chucked.0 -

No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -

No, but at least I can try! There have been a few posts taking the P!!! but also some with some good feedback. I guess you just have to sort the gems from the S!!!. A lot like buying a house.

I know you all think that I am slightly crazy, but that doesn't worry me. The main thing is I know now that they do not HAVE to tell you anything, but there are questions that can be asked to lower price. Thank you all for your input, good, bad or pointless, it's all appreciated.
I think you would probably be laughed out of an estate agency if you tried putting in a lower offer because someone died in the house.0 -

As long as you don't take it to heart, it's given some people some fun.No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -

Any EA wanting to laugh me out of their offices for ANY request should be shot! I'll offer what I value the house at. If that's less for the fact I think next doors gnome is looking at me funny it has fluff all to do with them. I'm not put off by what people think of my opinion on what a house is worth. My money is worth the same as any other buyer and I am sure they will know that!0 -
We're buying my grandparent's house, and my grandma died in one of the bedrooms. I'd never really thought about it before this thread

Of course, if you didn't know one way or the other then you wouldn't need to have "the thought" about it happening.
Absolutely your discretion as you say, but has already been noted this pretty much limits you to new builds - even if the previous occupant didn't die in situ, then what about the ones before them? Or for that matter, on new builds what if a builder keeled over and died while doing the plastering?
I've purchased my parents old house where my mother died at home. The house needed modernising and renovating, I admit, but I would have done it anyway to at least the room she died in, to be fair.If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything0
