Argos 30day Guarantee Exemptions!!!!!!!!

They will not replace it as it is an exempt item!!!!!!!!!!!
This is not an individual staff member's nor a branch's attitude, but a company policy. There are numerous complaints on MSE and other consumer forums about this.
Argos did this to me in January when I purchased a mobile phone that did not work and I tried to return the phone within 3 days of purchase. One member of the branch staff pretended to try it out to call a colleague in the same same, and claimed the phone was working. I asked for a refund or replacement, but she said that the item could be taken in for repair only, as it was excluded from the 30 day guarantee.
I complained to Argos head office and to the local trading standards, who told me to contact Consumer Direct, who in turn suggested taking Argos to the Small Claims Court. Eventually Argos took the phone back 'for testing', and when the manufacturer confirmed that the phone was faulty, Argos refunded the cost of the phone, but still refused to refund the £10 mobile top up that Argos forced me to take with the phone.
I have since avoided purchasing from Argos and would strongly advise other people to avoid Argos, as there are many much better alternatives such as John Lewis and Amazon who give good service and honour their commitments to customers.0 -
Sorry to hear that you have also been a victim of what has been the Argos attitude to 'customers' for years, refusing to take back a newly purchased item that is faulty if the item is one Argos exclude from their 30 day guarantee. Argos offer instead to send the item for repair, and once the customer agrees to a repair, Argos will not replace or refund the item.

On the other hand, I have never suffered a problem with returning items to Argos. Though I haven't needed to return a mobile telephone or MP3 player.0 -
No it does not-it's at the shop's discretion. But with a small electrical item like this that is almost certainly what they'll do anyway.
Where in the sale of goods act does it state this?

I did not misunderstand.
He pointed to the receipt which said Exempt from 30 day Guarantee!0 -
Sale of Goods Act States you can reject faulty goods, obviously not at Argos!0
-
What outcome do you want?
The policy is clearly visible in post 3
If you've had the product for up to 1 year, we'll repair the product or, if that's not possible, give you a replacement or, if that's not possible, a refund.
This does not affect your statutory rights (ie sale of goods act)!!

Thanks acc.
I was not evem offered a repair just a shrug of the shoulders when I said I would contact Consumer Direct.
I will never shop at Argos again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!0 -
Argos staff are just total idiots. The item is faulty, and comes with a 12 month warranty.
On small items like that, they won't even attempt to repair, not cost effective, just replace it.
Demand to speak to the manage or phone main Customer Services.Mansion TV. Avoid at all cost's :j0
