It is fine to use water on leather as long as you don't oversoak it. Moisture is very good for leather and is actually a necessity to keep it correctly hydrated which keeps it in good condition.
Please do not use dubbin or beeswax on your leather. Wax and oil based products are bad or leather as they can lead to damage to the finish on modern upholstery. These products are fine on boots etc where it serves a completely different purpose.

The best thing to do is to use a water based leather cleaner to keep it hydrated and then a leather protector (not a conditioner or balm) which will help to keep your leather clean and prevent staining. These simple steps will keep your leather clean and in good condition.

The key to good Leathercare is to keep it clean as it is dirt and body oils that do the most damage. Traditional products like beeswax, and conditioners that contain oils and waxes should be avoided as the simply sit on the surface and attract more dirt. Silicones should never be used on leather as they seal the surface and prevent it from absorbing moisture.

    Hope this helps
