Dinner and cocktails were fab - although I was wrong about the voucher being for two courses, it was only for one. We had pudding anyway though! That meant a spend of £9.90 which came from my entertainment budget anyway and a very good night indeed was had.

Yesterday I had planned to do all my food shopping, but just wasn't in the mood so I cleaned the living room, kitchen and craft room. Today I'm going to get all the food shopping done, return some items to Amazon and think about cleaning the bathroom. I'm making no promises!

The food budget is still very tight until I get paid (12 days to go :D) but I'm working on keeping myself on-target. Yesterday I did buy some whoopsied brioche and muffins for Mr Fresian - 15p for a pack of 6 brioche and 18p for 4 double chocolate muffins. Two packs of muffins and a pack of brioche are now in the freezer - one pack has already been demolished

But brioche is so delicious :D

Hi there flyin' I have a (self-imposed) very tight food budget too - trying to eat things out of the cupboards / freezer first ;) Hoping to get to the point that i lift something out of the freezer and it creates space rather than everything else just going *sigh* and filling it up already! In some ways i don't want to empty the freezer as then i'll have to buy lots from shopping :eek::eek: But our freezer has now become known as the Freezer of Doom - it is just so packed and difficult to get into and find what you want and then be able to shut the door on it again  :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Your cards are fantastic! Do you have a list of things the novice card maker should start out with? :o Think i need to try and squeeze a budget out of somewhere and scour eb*y for bargains to do this :) I haven't been too well lately but card making should be something i can do as i imagine it is nicely relaxing :)

Your night out with your friend sounds fab! Woo for cocktails
Good luck with all your plans for today :)

My newest creation is on my blog too if you want a look :)

What I think you absolutely need for cardmaking is (links attached too):

    • Sharp craft knife
    • Double sided tape (buckets of it!) I normally get it when I go to my biannual craft extravaganza in Glasgow
    • Craft scissors
    • Cutting mat
    • Corner rounder - not essential but helps your cards look more professional ;)
    • I personally couldn't cope without my guillotine, but you can get by with a paper trimmer when you're starting out. It helps to measure the papers etc.
    • *TOP TIP!* Buy this instead of glue. You can put it on top of images to make them glossy, but it's also a really good glue. Total value!

    Morning all :)

I'm getting quite peeved with being poor like a church mouse, but it's my own fault I suppose. And the fault of my employer for deciding to pay us early in December. That's just cruel ;)

    Money

    PAD/Spends - £15
    Entertainment - £13.10
    Food - £14.23
    Money in purse - £7

Part of the reason that the food budget is so tight is because the tuna offer in Morrisons ends on Sunday so I bought 12 tins last night :o They're hidden in my stockpiling cupboard, so Mr Fresian should have enough tuna to last until May at this rate! I'm going to have to get creative with the rest of the food shopping though...

Need a little advice about my annual cinema pass too....

They've put the price up to £180  which works out at £15 per month.

I have two council tax free months coming up saving me £270. I'm paying more for my council tax this year because I paid over 9 months thanks to forgetting to set up a direct debit (oops!) so next year I'll be paying £12 per month less.

    So:

Option 1 - Pay the card in full and have £90 spending money for everything when I go to York for my holiday in March  It would mean I wouldn't have to worry about price rises for the next year though.

Option 2 - Pay monthly at £15 per month, having to find only £3 per month extra for my bills account and have the full £270 for my holidays meaning I don't have to worry about paying for petrol/food while we're away.

I'm leaning toward option 2 but need more advice!

New cards on my blog by the way ;)

Four tins of John West for £2.99 which is much better than the £6.99 they usually want. It's in spring water/oil/brine. We went for the spring water as then the cats get fishy water as a wee treat!

Checked my receipt from yesterday but haven't won anything :(

    Third option for cinema pass:

Turns out I can buy Cineworld giftcards with an 8% discount, which means that a £180 card would cost me £165. I could buy this from my savings and replace the money at £15 per month.

    There are too many options!
