3Dogs, the eye team must surely have made notes of your sister's allergies in the pre-op appointments, it was one of the first questions I got asked after the usual name and address ones. The nurses even did my height, weight, blood pressure and breathing. Still, it just goes to prove how much difference there is between the way each NHS Trust is run.
BTW, it is part of the checking procedure to ask which eye is being done. I was asked when I went in, each time the nurse topped-up my numbing drops and by the surgical team when I went-down.

I'm glad they have now sorted your sister's eye out. It should recover very quickly from all the trauma it has been through.

As for resisting the TV shopping channel, if I had the money, I would have phoned-up and bought them. As they come clean with just a wipe with a dry cloth, they would save a bit on washing-up liquid.

Had to laugh today. My mum phoned Mrs P. up to ask if she knew where she could get knitting patterns for dogs. I felt like phoning her back and saying "I know Jack Russells are clever, but I'd pay good money to see one knit".

Don't worry Aesop, nice to know I'm not the only forgetful one.
Just scored a major morale-boost by taking-on the role of arranging the Scout Group Colour Party for Remembrance Sunday. The GSL is well-pleased, as is the vicar of my local Church. This will be the first time ever that a Scout Group has been involved.

well done on getting the Scout group involved :j

remembered what it was, the barcode scanner you bought. Would this work the same as the QR Code app I have downloaded on my phone?

or would I be better off investing in a barcode scanner like you? if so, where did you buy yours from.

QR codes are 3D barcodes. They can have a lot more info imbedded in them and are designed to be read by a camera (which is why Symbian and Andriod phones support them out of the box (iPhones need an app)).
The sort of barcode you see on books, CDs and grocery items is a 2D barcode and is the most common sort.

You can get a 2D barcode reader app (there's one that can scan a bardcode, then tell you the cheapest price, and another that will compare the item to Amazon prices and tell you if you can make a profit by buying-it and selling it on).

A lot of sites allow you to scan a barcode to list an item. Having used one at work to scan-in product data, I can say that when it arrives, it will save its' cost in the time I save listing 60 DVD's and about 100 books.

Patman, does it work in Am@zon as well as in fleabuy? How about pictures for fleabuy listings? Would you still need to put pics up for them or is there some sort of database available already of pics for books?

It will work with any site that allows you to search/list with a barcode. All it does is to duplicate the typing of the barcode number so you don't have to.

Love it Pat :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

I went to Mr T's for some shopping and then just watched the telly last night, never even opened up my laptop  And I resisted today as well, until now :D

Mam is just the same, no better, no worse :D:D

My sister's eye is still sore and very swollen, but I guess the new drops will take time to ease the damage caused by the other ones. What had happened is that the docs had checked with her which antibiotics she was allergic too, she'd said AAA and BBB, they said BBB was the one they used so they gave her drops with CCC in. However, as we now know, she is either allergic to CCC or the preservatice in the drops, or the steroids in the drops. She now has DDD antibiotic drops, plus prednisalone (which she had had many times for her asthma) steroid drops

I went up to Newcastle with my Sister this morning, B-i-L dropped us off. She got her meat. etc at Farmers Market and I carried it back to her workplace, then B-i-L came to pick us up but by then we had persuaded her to go to Eye Casualty again. It was 1hr 15 mins wait to be seen, and they said that she was getting reaction to the second drops too, so they prescribed her with antibiotic eye gel instead, telling her to apply it each night but to stop if any reaction to it as the risk of infection is over after 48 hours really. She has to keep using the steriod injection for the 14 days, but they checked her eye and the cataract op has gone well, it's just the inflammation from her reaction to the other drops that is causing the problem. We had to wait another hour at the pharmacy and then 15 mins for B-i-L to come and pick us up, so we were there a long time - but at least it should be sorted now :D
