Susan, Glad to hear that Alan is feeling a bit better, those palliative care staff know their stuff though. My late Mum used to go in every so often and she felt so cared for when she was there.

Thoughts and prayers here for Alan and yourself as always, and hugs to of course (keep an eye on Alan though, with SW and the boys there you never know what he will be up to smiley-hug007.gif

Evening friends - I am shattered so will be off to bed as soon as I have typed this

Went down to the car boot this morning with Kit, Steve & Andy and everyone wanted to know how Alan was. They were all very concerned for him, and me, and a few will be calling in to visit him this week, but it was very tiring mentally. Kit got lots of things for her house and I got some flowers for the house and to take in for Alan if they allow them. We then went to see Alan but he had just finished his lunch so was tired, but Kit fed him some yummy Hagen D@@z ice cream which he enjoyed so left a pot down there in the kitchen for him another day. We had called into Tosco for a meal deal so had a 'picnic' with him. As he was tired we left him to sleep and came home

Andy, Steve and Kit then did loads of work for me in the house, helping me to empty a small wardrobe and break it down to take to the tip, and then empty other large wardrobe, move to other side of room and put everything back, a well as loads of other bits and pieces. The car is loaded now to go to the tip in the morning, but couldn't take it today as it was closed by the time we finished. Lots more space in the room, and got 2 bin bags of rubbish for tip plus 2 bags of clothes/etc to take to cancer charity shop this week

We then went for a meal at a new local pub but there was an hour-long wait for a table so we decided to visit Alan first to find him lying flat in bed, and asleep. When I woke him he was very weak indeed and didn't speak. Although we sat with him for a while, he was not very responsive so we left to let him sleep in peace. Again, it was not long after his meal that we got there, when he is at his most tired, and may have had extra pain-killer, so I just hope that he is brighter tomorrow morning as it was very distressing .... so sad to see him like that :(

So, we went along for our meal and it was delicious, including the 'giant' puds we had :o:o Although our thoughts and some of our conversation was about Alan, we still enjoyed ourselves ...... the guys are fantastic company and just the pick me up I needed  I couldn't thank them enough for coming all this way to see Alan and to help and support me. I feel so strong when they are here, as I did when my Big Sis was here too. The test will come this coming week when I am on own, but I am feeling ok right now

Thanks for your new messages guys - I love you all :D

Off to bed I go, night night - sleep well

Sorry Alan was not at his best today, I do hope he perks up a little bit for your next visit. Although I am glad to hear you had a nice meal, I am sure Alan would be pleased.

As for being on your own I know it isn't the same but you have half of MSE here for you pretty much 24/7 whether it be here or 11+. Any time you are lonely, sad or even glad we are here to share these times with you. We might not be able to hold your hand through this tough time but we will do our best to be there for you in any other way we can! Sending big loves to you both xx

Everything will be ok in the end, and if it isn't ok then it isn't the end :)

Hi hun
I'm not surprised you're shattered, you've had a busy day and got lots done with the help of your friends. Your meal sounds lovely, glad you enjoyed it.

Alan's had a busy weekend as well, don't forget, so he's going to be tired. If he has a good night hopefully he'll be brighter tomorrow.

You're much stronger than you think, you know, the past few weeks have proved that. You will have some down periods and that's to be expected but you've gots lots of support here as well as all your friends and family, both local and further afield.

Bigs hugs to you both as always.

We are many we are one xxx

So that every single post that I contribute to this thread is on topic I would just like to say I am an elite 11+ member and I hear the unjust silence of my opinions whilst I am shopping in supermarkets mainly. Just sayin.

Thanks for the update, Susan. Glad that Alan enjoyed the HD ice cream - expensive taste for an MSEr!! But as L'oreal say - He's worth it. Hugs to you both. Take care of yourself as well. xxxx

I hope Alan is feeling stringer today when you visit.Sounds like you had a busy day yesterday and certainly deserved your giant Yorkshire puds.
With regards to being on your own ..this will never be the case, your virtual friends here on MSE will always be here for you..probably in their hundreds..and your close friends and family may not be always at your side but I am sure you are always in their hearts..take care , you are an inspiration:grouphug:

Very difficult to put into words... but your love for Alan is so beautiful, and you make me understand how precious how fragile life is, and how much I really do respect and love my husband... Thank you... I am so glad you had a good weekend, what truly good people your friends are....Even though I dont know Alan I feel I do through you and your thread.. Please tell him there are people thinking of him, that he might not ever meet but that they send their love and thoughts and best wishes... Sometimes I look at this forum and it drives me mad, and then other times like this, I see the kindness of strangers to one another, and it really does make you feel better about the world. You have a huge amount of strength and courage, please take care of yourself, I know you will always take care of Alan xxxxxx
