That was such an uplifting post Steve and thankyou for the update. I know how much you, Andy and Kit mean to Susan & Alan and I just know that your visit will be full of laughter and smiles....through all the sadness that is just what is needed :D:D:A:A:A

Make sure that Alan knows that we are all here for Susan too...they are a very special couple. I know that some people say this is `just the internet` but I bet any one of us would be there in a shot if there was anything we could do to help.

Give them both a hug from me too...and also to Kit too who is an angel xx:A

    Lots of love, Angiexx

    Morning SSA,

Will certainly give them both a big hug from you today & kit.

    Hugs Steve

Patman, don't be so hard on yourself.

I was lucky enough to meet all of them, Alan, Susan, Kit, Andy and Steve because they travelled all the way to Central London to meet me and DS. If they hadn't done that, we wouldn't have met.

We still have fond memories of that day.

Susan, I first came across your thread over 2 years ago after being made redundant. All you 2 had to worry about back then was dealing with your debts and your mam.
Over the last couple of years, I have followed the pair of you as Alan made a good go of trading at a bootfair and I truly believed he may have found a way to make a living doing something he enjoyed.

This was soon turned on it's head with the sad news of Alan's cancer.

Now, Alan only has a month to live and I feel so disgusted with myself that in the month I had off I could not find the time in my self-centred existence to actually come and meet the pair of you.

One thing I can assure you both is that my thoughts are very much with the pair of you at this moment. I also promise to check-in at least once every 2 days for progress reports.

Please don't knock yourself up about it Pat, we all have our own lives to lead and own problems. Lovely post hun :o

Good morning friends :) I am sitting her having had my breakfast cereal, waiting for the gang to arrive to pop down to the car boot so I can update our friends down there, get some flowers and fruit, and then go and see Alan before we go home and start the work that they are going to help me with :D

Alan is getting more 'himself' again athough he is very weak. Since his rehydration and his move to the palliative care unit, he has improved just a little each day. He is still, of course, very ill, but it is so good to be able to talk to him again :j He eats some cereal and toast in the mornings, a little lunch with ice cream, and just ice cream for dinner at the moment. hen he eats, he feels full very quickly, but he is getting good food there and the staff are amazing. So helpfull, caring and friendly. They crack jokes with him/us and some are 'silly' which helps so much to lighten the atmosphere. Alan, with his humour, responds to that very well :D We just have to wait till Doc sees him on Wednesday to see how it is going

It was fantastic having my Big Sister down her with me and Alan loved to see her too. We had a laugh and a giggle which wa much needed, and she did some of my cleaning too :j :j She just can't sit and do nothing,, unlike me :o, so was getting up before me to clean the bathroom, or kitchen, and it lovely to be able to see out of my sitting room windoww now :o;) She loved it down here, saying the fens are very like the plains of America she visits and loves, though on a smaller scale obviously. It wa sad to see her leave yesterday, when I took her over to P'boro for her train home, but she promised to come down again soon. She had missed lots of 'excitement' back home in Newcastle with all the floods. He whole garden had been flooded, like a moat around her house. Her daughter has decking out from her dining room out into the garden, with three steps down to the garden and the water was up to the top of the decking  Shouldn't laugh, but my niece's OH had spent a weekend fixing the roof of the girls' wooden playhouse at the bottom of the garden just two weeks ago as the felt roofing was starting to rot, to have the water flood it from underneath  It got to three foot deep inside the playhouse and lots of gear ruined :( The water is back down now but there are still lots of problems up there for many people

Kit, Steve and Andy arrived last night and we all went to see Alan. He wa delighted to see them and it relaxed him as it is impossible not to cheer up wwith them around ;) When we left as he was getting tired, he insisted on hig hugs and kisses for them all for coming to see him and helping me

I read all your messages last night and was so lifted by the all. And humbled. And weepy but happy at the same time. And I loved the poems. Thank you all so very much. It helps me so much and Alan loves to hear of all of your posts

Gotta go now and the guys are here so will try to post tonight

Thank you Beanielou and Aesop for your updates and so lovely to see you posting Susan.

I'm pleased to hear that Alan is more comfortable and lucid now and that you are able to share some smiles and laughs with him.

It is so lovely of you sister and your friends to come to see you and I'm glad their visits have bought you and Alan lots of joy and allowed you Susan to be taken care off for a change.

I hope all goes well with the docs check up this wk and as always you are both in my thoughts.

Sending you both lots of hugs, love and laughter for the days ahead xxx
