Quick post before I go and get some shut-eye but first of all thank you all so much for your wonderful posts which I have just quickly read - they deserve more time really but I must get some rest

Thank you Beanie for posting that update :A I stayed with Alan all night and didn't get home until about 4pm so I am shattered. To cut a long story short, which is unlike me of course, Palliative Care Doctor who saw Alan around lunch time today said that his condition was a combination of the morphine, dehydration and his condition and they would start him on morphine plus another painkiller which name escapes me, and steroids which have been proven to help liver cancer pain, so he started him on them this afternoon and he is still on the drip of course. Doc called me into a side room to discuss things - Alan is to be transferred to the small palliative care unit at North Cambs Local Hospital in Wisbech in the morning where he will I know receive the best care

Bad news is that the morphine reaction/dehaydration/halucinations/etc are all just symptoms of the fact the the cancer has taken hold of his liver and it is starting to fail. This aggressive change means that Alan has less than a month to live which was a shock as being so sudden. But at least he will now receive the best care he could have and will be out of pain. It is heartbreaking to watch him twitch and stare, and being unable to put a sentence together ... one that makes sense that is :( If I ask him for a kiss he gives me one and if I say I love you lamb, he still says I love you wangel. I have fought so hard with him over the last 24 hours to stop him try to get up, cut or twist open the cathetar tube, pull out the canula ... and get out of that bed. Just having been given the news today, I stood with my legs trapping his in the gap where the side guard ends and the footrail is, refusing to let him stand up as he would fall and hurt himself. Another patient went to fetch the nurses and they got him back to bed, but I went tearing into the corridor crying my eyes out

I have not told him about the latest news on his cancer as he would not listen or take any of it in, but if they can settle him so that he knows what is going on, I will tell him as I made a promise to him not to lie about his condition only a couple of weeks ago

I got home about 4, called into Linda's for a quick chat and then came home to start the telephoning. His brother, his father and sister, his 2 sons, and his ex-wife who lost her 2nd husband a few years ago to late-found cancer. Lovely message from my brother. A call to Kit, Steve and Andy for virtual hugs, and my Big Sis who is coming down by train tomorrow morning to stay with me till the weekend until Kit, Steve and Andy come to see me

I don't feel alone, I have my real family up North, my special family of Kit, Steve and Andy, with sspecial relations Aesop, Beanie and Angie with MandyLou and Jayjay too now .. oops and Dragon and Patman... and of course the massive Elite family .......... gosh, big family, Christmas is going to be expensive this year

Got to end with a laugh, or I'll cry - off to bed now so goodnight all - sleep well :A I think I will fall asleep as soon as my head hit the pillow ..... I hope so at least :D

To cut a long story short? :A :A :A Never known here :o

What can I say.... Ive never been so emotional because of a virtual friend in all my life....
I really dont know what to say....
We all have a lot to thank for our elite group, and I must say, I do hope that we, as part of the elite can help you through this hard time, as a part of your family, be it a virtual one, but not a day goes by where I dont think of you both, in work, sat watching tv and on the internet..... You will never be alone...

I think I speak for the whole thread when I say that we miss you and think of you every day...

Our thoughts are with you honey xxxxhugsxxxx

    Just too heartbreaking for words.
You have both been so dignified and the way you have dealt with such a cruel fate has been inspirational.
Don't know what else to say other than you are constantly in my thoughts and I'm sending you both my love :A:A
My husband says he will leave me if I don't stop shopping......... God I will miss that man.
