Glad to hear people are fans of kindles, I can't wait till December now!
Dropped OH at his friend's farm, then went to sainsbobs, picked up some new J20s that are on offer - THEY ARE GLITTERY! Got OH some drinks for his lunch and a magazine for me to read with a cuppa in a little while.
Pup is having a sofa day...don't think he wants to go for a walk today! So we'll put a movie on instead!Annual Grocery Budget £364.00/£1500

I used to read at night, but since I've been with Mr LW, he likes us to read books together, = lying in bed, with him (as he calls it) "reading at me", ie reading out loud. It's a total waste of time; I'm so deaf that I only catch roughly every third word, if that, so I've no idea what the story's about.:D Then of course, he wants the light out so that he can get to sleep, so the upshot is that I no longer read.:o
We have a 15-year-old Border Collie staying with us for the week - she's nearly as deaf as I am, but luckily she understands hand signals!:rotfl:If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
I too have a Kindle and think its the best thing since sliced bread I still read 'normal' books as well but I am a total bookworm and I don't think there is a room in my house that hasn't got books in.Kindle's are brilliant in the car when I am waiting for my DGS to come out of school as I have to get there 20 minutes beforehand to find a parking spot.
DGD Holly has just been and we had some lunch together and she was telling me all about her adventures at Uni.
Her boyfriend's brother bless him, fell off a roof (he's a scaffolder) on Friday and is in Kings College Hospital with a broken pelvis and two shattered discs so we are all concerned about him He is only 21 poor guy and is worried about his future.
I shall have to have stern words with the Big Guy tonight.
Holly is a good lass though and helped do a bit ofwork for me (She stripped and remade my bed for me) I have a problem with duvet covers so an extra pair of hands make all the difference.I will shortly be off to my youngest Dds for Scrabble and dinner later tonight.Sun still shining in North Kent and haven't had to put my heating on as yet which is good
Have a good evening everyone

I am searching for crochet classes but they are really quite expensive -by the time I take travel costs into the equasion we would be looking at over £65, so if anyone knows anyone in the tayside area who can crochet and would be willing to help someone out please give me a shout (I would of course be willing to pay for their time). I have asked at the local wool shop but they are not really very friendly just said no dont know anyone!
Have you tried looking on Youtube for videos on how to crochet? I'm not sure if they'd help you but I managed to learn how to do a chain from one of the videos. I can't quite get the hang of the next row with their instructions so I might have to try another one for that. The trick is to take different techniques from different videos until you have a method you can use. Or that's what I do anyway.
Not a very OS day today, I've been having quite a lazy weekend in general. Dinner is fish fingers with HM mash and frozen peas, probably just for me as OH is trying to reset his sleeping patterns at the moment (he went to sleep about an hour ago) so I doubt he'll be awake by then. He made pasta and pesto with sweetcorn earlier though, which was lovely. It's really simple but it's becoming one of my favourite meals.
I'll do some more ironing tonight as the pile is starting to build up again from the last time I cleared it and give the kitchen a bit of a tidy. I'm picking up a 27" telly off Freecycle tomorrow and I'm still debating as to where to put it. It would look nice in the kitchen/living room and it would be nice to have something to watch during dinner (I have trouble finishing meals sometimes and I feel watching telly helps distract me so I don't notice I'm eating until my plate's empty) but I'd also like to attach the OH's Wii to it as it's easily the biggest telly we have and the kitchen has quite a low ceiling, which might be a problem for some games, ie basketball on Wii Sports Resort as we'd bang our heads if we jumped! :rotfl: So I might put it in my room and put the portable telly in the kitchen instead. Which means my room needs a real clear out soon or I'll run out of room to get in there!

Hi all
So today I have stripped the bed, washed the bedding & hung it on the line.
Cooked a piece of beef in the slow cooker, used some for roast dinner, some for sandwiches & made stew from the leftovers.
Made 2 Lt's of courgette & brie soup using marrow & feta & Cheddar (don't ask).
Finished 2 dolls jackets & started 3rd.
Washed up by hand all day.
Have a good evening everyone.
Hugs Hester

Evening All,
Its been a nice day here in the North. We popped to B & Q and Wix this morning to get some ideas for doing our kitchen. Called in Mr S's and ended up getting the black dress I have been lusting after in the Gok range. I am sure it will be worth the money and will last forever (can you tell I am trying to justify spending the money:o) but it makes me feel good http://www.sainsburys-tu-clothing.co.uk/Collection/ultimate-wrap-dress its this one in black.
DH has been in the garden all day, tyding and getting ready for winter. We plan to start on the kitchen soon but are making the most of the good weather. A house not far away and very similar in size to ours has gone on the market for more than we thought ours was worth and we have a much better postion and a big garden with open aspect so we are thinking of maybe selling instead of renting when we go to Australia. Of course that doesn't mean they will sell for that price but I have a sneaky feeling the housing market is picking up a bit.
I bought DH a Kindle for his 50th and he loves it, I may get one off father christmas if I'm lucky.
Dinner was chicken curry and we will have a snack tonight infront of the tv as I need to watch strictly and x factor results.
Hope you have had a peaceful Sunday all JulieStarted Self Managed DMP 10th May 2017.

ive always wanted to learn to crochet but being left handed i thought i couldnt do it. anyhow i was on thriftladys blog a while ago and she does the most amazing things with crochet, she is also left handed and i thought well it must be possible , i bought a book to get the basic patterns and went on youtube to watch demos on how to do the various chains , and now i can crochetonly basic things but i am so happy i persevered. all for the cost of a crochet hook and a half price book from a garden centre :T
all snuggled up under a blanket with a cupps ready for strictly and x factor0
