Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Sunday 16th October. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
Morning all,
Not often you see me up this early on a sunday
, dd has a days work today and is being collected at 7.15, so I got up to make sure she was up.
Not got the wm on yet, will have my cuppa first, then get started on washing the clothes from the jumble yesterday, and strip and wash my bedding, it was so beautiful here yesterday, I got 4 loads washed and almost dry on the line, they just needed an airing, hopefully today will be the same.
DD will not be home till 5.30ish so dinner will be a cheese and pea omlette, we tried this a few weeks ago and they are delish :T, with hm chips and salad.
Need to have a hoover through today, and put the 2 mirrors up in the bathroom, we also need to silicon and painters mate, and then we are finished, we had planned to do this yesterday, but something went wrong with the wheel on OH's car, and him and his dad spent a couple of hours sorting it out, (the bigger mirror is too heavy for one person to lift.)
Very cold here this morning, and I felt chilli a couple of times in the night, winter is upon us I think, still we have been so lucky up to now.
OK need more tea, have good days all xx

Thanks for the new thread, Redruby. I've not been around the boards much for the past few days - I've not been feeling too good - but need to get back on track. As today's Sunday it's an easy day for me although I will be going to a pet-sitting job later on this afternoon.
Hope everyone has a good, OS dayHousehold: Laura + William-cat

Morning all
GP is starting soon, hubby has a cuppa & a bacon sarnie, I have a cuppa.
I need to strip the bed today & wash the bedding hopefully it will dry, it's very misty & murky out at the moment, lets hope it burns off soon.
I have a piece of beef cooking in the slowcooker for tea tonight, it should be nice & tender.
I knitted most of another dolls jacket yesterday but my hands are really sore now, I might have a look on ebay for some bamboo needles, they seem to cause less pain for some reason.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

Hi all.
Redruby - you must be thrilled to be at the very end of your bathroom project; I suggest a luxurious warm bubble bath with a glass of Champagne!
Notjustlaura - hugs to you; hope you feel a lot better soon.
It's a lovely sunny start here this morning; just as well, I've got all the laundry to do from the holiday home I look after - four loads in all, so I hope to get it all dry today.
Dinner will be a roast with pork, spuds, broccoli, runner beans, and gravy, followed by warm chocolate-filled crepes with icecream (but don't be impressed by the crepes; I found them in Lidls - eight for €1,49!). Had some yesterday and they were delicious.
We have visitors this morning for coffee, then we hope to laze around this afternoon in front of our new TV (treated ourselves to our very first flat-screen yesterday - we have now joined the modern world!). It's a 32" - the biggest I wanted to go for, and I had to be talked into it; I hate the way those great big screens dominate a room). As it is, I would have gone for a smaller one, but there you are.
Well, I'm off for some breakfast. Have a good day, everyone. Hope the sun shines for you all!¬

Good morning everyone.
It's a frosty one here today. The fields looked lovely when i first got up. The sun is coming through now, so hopefully it will warm up a bit. I think we are supposed to be in for quite a nice day.
Today for me will be ironing everything i got dry yesterday. Not much housework, just general picking things up (as always) as went right through yesterday. Will sit and watch the grand prix at some stage this morning. Dinner is chicken, stuffing and veg.
Hope everyone has a good day and hugs to those who need them.

Morning everyone,
Up a bit later than usual this morning due to an unexpected party last night!
DD1 was decorating a cake for my friend's husband's 50th birthday and as she collected it yesterday she said 'see you at the party'. Turns out that her OH had forgotten to invite the 5 a side football team (the only invitations entrusted to him) and she had to make a few frantic phone calls. fortunately we were all free and could go to the party!
DD2 got to go too as she is really friendly with the couples daughter.:D
This morning DS has a rugby match but it has a late kick off due to the world cup rugby on the telly.
DD2 and I are off to church and DD1 is being delivered back from a sleepover.
Tea tonight is coq au vin so unfortunately there will be no left overs for tomorrow.
Right WM is finished so I better peg out the washing.
Hugs to those in need.
Have a lovely day everyone.:)0 -
Morning all
Lovely here but cold, pottered in the garden yesterday when I got up and have sewn some winter lettuce in the greenhouse, it's a Suttons variety and it grows under fleece all winter.
Off to the gym in a mo for early class then I need to pop into A**a for some bits. Have got work for the next 3 nights not looking forward to it but 2 are agency shifts so I can't really turn them down. Trying not to think about it too much. Tea is leftovers today.
Hope all is well hugs to all who need one. Have a good day all.

Morning folks, brisk morning here too. Been up since 6 as got DD2's daft spaniel for the weekend, and was concerned he might need out - real novice never looked after a dog before! - so decided to just get up then, havent done anything other than knit though - its so relaxing no noise, nothing - have taken advantage to think things through and organise in my mind certain things!
Nothing planned today - really into my knitting just now so will probably have a 'me' day for a change, and crack on with that. Went tothe new hobby craft shop yesterday and bought more wool - so have started that project too - BUT - no more buying until these projects that are half way through are finished.(The lovely cross-stich table cloth I saw will just have to wait!!!!;)) Have managed to get half the back of a chunky waistcoat done so far this morning, hopefully get the whole back done today - I am so impatient when it comes to anything. I am searching for crochet classes but they are really quite expensive -by the time I take travel costs into the equasion we would be looking at over £65, so if anyone knows anyone in the tayside area who can crochet and would be willing to help someone out please give me a shout (I would of course be willing to pay for their time). I have asked at the local wool shop but they are not really very friendly just said no dont know anyone!
Will have some baking to do for the week and meals to make but hey-ho will be done when I am ready.
Chicken and mushroom pie for tea. Have some old mushrooms to use, and some puff pastry in the freezer. Will also use up soup from the freezer for lunch to save me having to make that. I am intending baking a madeira cake, gingerbread and clootie dumpling, along with throwing some pancakes together.
Can you tell I cant really be bothered today
Have a good day, and enjoy the sun while it shines

so tired here today. had a night filled with a bizarre dream that the taliban were taking over england, hijacking planes and we stood watching them drop bombs from the planes in asda carpark... i woke up half expecting to find one stood there with a gun in my face:rotfl: pretty sure its down to these sleeping tablets as i have been having rather odd dreams lately
anyway just popped in to say thanks for all the hugs the other day. had a better day yesterday. ds helped make hm pizzas. trouble was he would put the topping on top then as soon as i looked away, he would be eating it :rotfl: he has developed a taste for raw mushrooms :rotfl: lets just hope he doesnt find any on our walk later :rotfl:
anyway have a good sunday"I have learnt that even when I have pains, I don't have to be one""You may not control all the events that happen to you, but you can decide not to be reduced by them.”Maya Angelou0 -
:)Morning all
Looks to be another glorious day here
Today I plan on sorting out pretty much everything for my holidays. I need to print out all confirmations etc, book some transfers, train tickets and day trips. Also need to start packing! Getting excited now.
My flatmate has gone on holiday herself today to Portugal, not sure if I'll see her before I go as she is due back minutes before I leave on Friday!!
I'm also seeing Date Boy (need a proper nickname for him, he's 35 so not a boy :rotfl:) later. Think he is coming round to watch a DVD and maybe we'll go out for food
OS wise - DW been on overnight so needs emptying, WM on and will dry on airers on balcony, floordrobe to be put away, need to do a quick tidy of lounge/kitchen, bins need emptying, may take recycling to tip too
Have a great day all
