When you own a place you have access to knowing what's what. If there are people renting, then you're never told a thing when you're a renter... nothing. I lived in a small block of flats where the four ground floor ones had 1/4 each of the garden and upstairs had nothing.... it was also written into my tenancy agreement that I was not allowed to hang washing outside.... and one day I looked outside and an upstairs neighbour had put up his own line in my garden and had hung out all his washing.

It's a tricky one as they simply might not know.

Its not worth getting worked up about if they wasn't aware of the full facts. As I said dont go in all guns blazing you soon get folks backs up and they can make life hell if its wrong type of person.

Im considering what you said, if i just left it outside...yeah, maybe..
But, what if he knows its mine, im gonna look like a right joke.
  • Today my line, tomorrow my Guitar, then my Car and my TV..

Can you draw him a map of all the areas, marking on it the spaces that are owned, giving the door numbers, and showing the communal bit? He'd like that....

Well, to be fair - unless the guitar, car keys and tv are all kept in the communal area, probably not.
If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.
  • Ok, so should i just leave the line up for people to use?
Id do that if its what you all think is best...
    What would you say?

Hi, that's my line but you are welcome to use it until you get your own. In return, I might need you to water some plants/change a washer for me some day - you never know. *smile

  • Or should i just leave it?
I really dont care to be honest, i dont use it for drying anymore anyway.
I just felt momentarily violated, thats all..lol
  • If it interferes with your everyday life (ie if you need it to dry your own clothes on), bring it in when not in use.

If it doesn't actually make any difference to you, let him get on with it.
  • oh for gods sake get a life.
if you dont use it , let some one else use it
then in the future if you need your plants watering point it out.
there is truly more to life than this !!!!
