  • couldnt you just save yourself the bother and get the frame welded. ten or 20 quid probably. I know you shouldnt have to, but some things you simply have to write off to experience and understand youll never get caught out again.
  • I have found knocking on the offenders door with a can of petrol in your hand, usually solves any problems you may have :rotfl:
    Owing on CC £00.00 :j

you are assuming an steel frame?

It's a carbon fibre frame. The seller denies that the frame was damaged at his end and says that he will make a claim against the courier. He's said he will refund me after I have returned the bike. I can't see what else I can do other than go along with this and hope for the best.

I have time stamped photos of the bike in my living room half an hour after it was delivered showing the crack and I've got screengrabs of the ebay ad in it's entirety including the photos that show a mark on the frame in the same spot as the crack (these include a close up of a section just below the damaged part). I have photographs of the bike as it was packed, unpacked, and the box it came in.

I'm going to do the same when I box the bike up, and I'm going to wait before the courier arrives so I can take a photo of the bike in the box with the courier van.

Any further advice other than 'don't' ?

    Appreciate all your input btw.

return by courier is going to be your required option anyway
however what goes on between the seller and his carrier is his problem
So if a refund isnt forthcoming once its returned then its dispute time
As tasty as CF is,I have always been wary of buying it 2nd hand

:( Seller now has the bike back at my expense and is refusing to refund my money. Is small claims court the next step or is there anything else I can do?
  • I am sorry hun, but if even knowing almost certainly the person is a scammer, u increased your losses by paying for courier return.., in the vague hope of getting a refund.., u need to look at buying from ebay again very very carefully.

There are scammers around, but u can avoid them with some good sense. Not a lot of that seen in this transaction from what I can see. Only buy from traders with a good track record. The more expensive the item, the longer the track record has to be as far as I am concerned. Never ever pay off of paypal for the reasons u have found.

Only option left to you now is small claims court.., but that's going to cost £25.00 I believe. Leave negative feedback describing what you have found if you can still do so.., but keep it factual rather than using emotive labels otherwise ebay will remove it. Hopefully will warn other ebay buyers off this trader.
