Customer abuse

If you are an orange customer don't expect any service.
I recently went to usa & spent time in setting up & buying a phone on reccomendation. My friend in USA said it would not work so I confirmed with Orange it would.
I did'nt & I have been left with a $49 bill.
On arrival in USA I immediately emailed Customer Services as the International Help Line only works to UK time! 8 days later I got a response pointing out my phone would not work in USA I KNEW THAT! I emailed again 14days later no response.
Now home I rang Customer Services after 28mins they finally answered & gave no help whatsoever.
So customer beware once you have paid don't expect any service in fact by Orange standards GET LOST.:(

Which phone did you buy? I'm presuming that this was a purchase of a phone made in the Uk, before you went abroad?

Any new phone bought in the UK (tri band) will work in the USA.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

I'm not sure, according to the OP they went to the US and purchased the phone there. Then discovered it wouldn't work with an Orange SIM.

The OP doesn't say who made the recommendation, presumably it was Orange? If si they would be referring to the UK version of the phone rather than a US version.

OP, can you confirm the order of events, who made the recommendation and why a bill of $49 was run up?

No. Phone bought here, wouldn't work in US, presumably spent $49 phoning Orange by some other means?
    Was roaming enabled?

Not true I had a a T68 world that worked in the USA and was UK spec, it has to be triband
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.

Does anyone actually have any idea what the actual problem is? I sure as hell can't work out from the OPs post whether its roaming, a phone, a SIM card in a non-Orange phone, whether it was bought in the UK or the USA...

Without the OP mentioning what handset they purchased and if he had roaming enabled on the account and which US network he was trying to connect to, then we can all but guess :o

The OP clearly says they went to the US and bought a phone (see 2nd sentence), but how this links to Orange and $49 is as clear as mud.

So it seems he could have purchased a handset abroad which is sim locked.
