Yes I would say so.
It is also open to existing co op bank account holders see "am I eligible" at the top of this page.

I was also wondering about the smile issue, as my current account is with smile who are basically the co-op bank but with a better website;) I can't see anything in the t&cs that would preclude a switch from a smile account to a co-op one that would prevent the £200 being paid.
Just to say, I have a smile account and a co-op account - the dd's are on the smile account - I've found their customer service to be excellent and they never try and flog you anything or send you rubbish in the post, unlike most other banks...0 -
DevonGilrl - it's a Visa Debit card.0

I've given them the details of one of my three LloydsVantage accounts where there are 2 standing orders. One for moving the circular £1000 around the vantage a/cs and one for moving the £10 interest each month. I hope this should work OK but may have to set up a new SO in the vantage account to preserve the rolling £1000 once the account is switched to the Coop.If the ball had gone in the net it would have been a goal.If my Auntie had been a man she'd have been my Uncle.0

Just had an odd conversation with them on the phone. Wanted to transfer an RBS account, but mentioned I also had a Smile account - which I thought would be useful info for identification purposes and speed up the application.
Worked fine - he agreed he had all my details already. BUT, he then said he had to go off and get a supervisor's opinion on eligibility - and came back saying sorry, Smile customers aren't eligible for the 'incentive' (i.e. the £200).
Which seemed very odd. He knew, and acknowledged, it wasn't the Smile a/c I was transferring and it had only been mentioned for ID purposes. So what he appeared to be saying was that a Smile customer can't do this deal to get an RBS account transferred to Co-op.
Seems slightly unbelievable, especially as their website implies existing Co-op customers can do exactly this - so am trying again via the online route...0 -
Just realised we have an almost dead Barclays current account (we had to open to get business account 20 odd years ago). Just one SO on it going to an animal charity. IF I were to add another SO on it, then I could use that one couldnt I?
Also, most of our accounts are in both names - could I remove a name from one so that we could have two bites at the co op cherry? One in my name, one in OHs?
One more thing - if we are bunging £800 a month in - take it there is no interest on their current account - cant see it mentioned? Can we withdraw the money after its paid in or do you have to have a minimum amount kept in there?0 -

No need to keep the cash in there - after all it is supposed to be your 'salary' going into your new current account so you'll be expected to spend it! The only need is to pay in the minimum - no restrictions on spending...0
