    Total mess.

Nationwide closed my account on the 25th and the money has still not appeared in my coop account 4 working days later.

My direct debits all come out tomorrow.

Also, Nationwide didn't close my e-savings and now I can't get that money out without a fight. They want me to reopen a flexaccount to retrieve the savings.

In addition, BT tried to fine me for cancelling a direct debit and said that my new coop account direct debit is blocked (it went out on the 21st).

Edit: I have now been told by Coop (after they called Nationwide) that Nationwide sent A CHEQUE with my closing balance to "somewhere" in the Coop. It has not arrived and the Coop agent said it wouldn't be able to be processed unless it went to Northampton. Nationwide have also closed my e-savings and have given no indication where that money is either. Coops advice: Ring Nationwide.

Has anyone tried to amend a standing order? I tried to, and set up an immediate transfer of £10 and one with a later date (29th November - 3 payments only) but could not see any changes on the account so I went into my local branch and straight away the advisor added a new reference, and amended my standing order to £50 as I requested. He also said that the date of the standing order was 12 December, which was the original date (I was happy to keep it at that date - was just to another of my accounts)

I checked when I got home and sure enough the new account was immediately showing the new reference (whereas the one I had entered never showed on the account) but no dates showing.

After the weekend a payment of £10 was made (the immediate one) and the next day a further payment of £10 was made. I also had an email saying my new standing order had been set up.

So now, the SO is showing the end date of 29/1/2012, but the reference number is the one which the adviser put in, not the one I put in which triggered the 2 £10 payments.

I'm just testing how user friendly the system is, and I have to report 'not very'

  • I've recently switched, but it wasn't quite as I had hoped.

Over the phone, I asked for only the standing orders to be switched, but the direct debits have also been moved across. This really commits me to using the Co-Op as my main account for now. They failed to switch one direct debit (luckily, for a unused credit card), and I have another DD which was in the process of being setup, as the switch took place, so I can't really blame them for that.

On the upside, the Faster Payments is superfast, as a transfer from my old account took less than 20 minutes to arrive. Faster Payment transfers from Santander, under £1k, are quick, whilst anything over this appears to take several days.
    C'mon you Canaries!!

Which is what they wanted, being as the offer T&Cs required a "full switch" with a minimum of 2 DDs and/or SOs.

If they'd complied with your request you wouldn't have been paid the £200 and so would have switched for nothing!

Unimpressed so far with this account, and I'll be one of those taking the £200 and closing the account. The website looks (and behaves) like something mashed together on a wet evening, and you can't rely on Faster Payments out of the account working. Even relatively small payments frequently go BACS instead of Faster Payments, with a consequential 3 working day delay.

Are you certain you didn't just get a B reason code even though it actually went by FP? (Yeah, I know this is lame.)
