Has anyone tried to amend a standing order yet? I tried to earlier and it wanted a valid reference number - anyone knows what this is?
According to the on-line Help, you enter a reference number (or, in my experience, letters) if the payee wants one (or you want to give one, I assume); or / if you don't want to give a reference.

Four weeks after I submitted the online switching form, still no sign of land. The Co-op now tell me Santander are failing to supply the list of SOs and DDs, owing to a mismatch of records.

Apparently the online switching form generates a worksheet, which has to be manually keyed in to the main database. I suspect the Co-op mistranscribed my Cahoot account details at this point.

Either that, or they've lost my switching application altogether. It's odd that NatWest have been mentioned to me in two different conversations, although they don't enter into this at all.

Also odd that the guy on the phone said at one point that he'd never seen anything like it before.

Apparently the cure for all this now is that I send them a signed paper switching form. Not that there's any chance of me matching any signature that I might have given Cahoot ten years ago.

Similar situation here except that I am switching from Nationwide.
I called yesterday to find out what was happening with the switch which was submitted on 26th October.
Mismatch of records was the reason my switch request had been rejected by Nationwide but the CoOp had not followed this up. I am now waiting for the paper form as you are.
The same thing happened to me before when switching from Nationwide to Halifax and the mismatch turned out to be the name of the account.
Nationwide have my full name as the account holder the new banks have initials and sirname. Previously they would only switch if my full name was used on the switching form. So it may not be the Co-Ops fault. (disregarding their inaction)

had a letter from coop yesterday to say they have been monitoring my switched direct debits and had noticed the EDF one had not been taken - this may be due to it being quarterly or yearly or that EDF had not set up the new details but they had been told and I should call them as there was nothing else coop could do.

Fortunately I had also been montioring and sorted out the problem as soon as it happened last week as EDF has just done a cancellation - good to see coop are monitoring the process though :)

i had a problem with EDF direct debit as well, i got a letter stating that id cancelled my d/d and was now on a pay on receipt of bill. I went online to my account and set up the direct debit from my new co-op account seems to be the only one ive had a problem with though.

I can't fault Co-op personally, I have had no problems whatsoever so far and my account is now active. My DD's have come out when they should up to now (inc EDF) so I am more than happy that I switched to them from Natwest (not that I had any problems with them either).

    Is this still active?

It's not listed on the MSE main page. I thought it would've been.

I had a look on the co-op site & the only thing i spotted which comes close is a "£200 fee free overdraft for £800 paid in per month".

Isn't a £200 overdraft facility different to a £200 credit to your account though? (Like how First Direct offered £100 - which was credit to your account and not an overdraft)

Yes, that is correct, of course. But we are talking about a £200 incentive for switching to Co-op. This has closed now, but we are all going through the switching process.

It was open for a shortish period, and was mentioned on the MSE main page and weekly e-mail.

  • Quick question - maintained balance on CO OP account
Can your £800 be transferred in to your CO OP account and then back out again with in minutes/hours via faster payments system each month to still receive your £200 bonus.

    Theoretically yes .....
That is also what I have been doing .... The FPO from Lloyd TSB - Coop just take minutes to arrive for forwards and backwards transactions.

But FYI, some banks prefer SOs from another account to Coop account and therefore your case will be stronger if you do SOs rather than n FPO.
