Haven't read everyone else's replied. However, we get a mixed bag of four from Lidl (although none for last week or so) for a realy good price. Lidl are doing half price veg just now so had hoped to get some over the last few days. Guess they are having problems with suppliers. Have decided to resist from buying elsewhere in case they pop in back there.

Double check the prices at your market. Today I've bought a bag of 6 mixed peppers (1 green, 1 red, 2 yellow, 2 orange) for £1. All med sized except 1 orange which is large.0

I use tesco value ones. I agree with people above, do your shopping online. When you get to the checkout, open up a new page, and go to the "Discount Vouchers" thread on these boards. There is a Tesco codes thread, cut and paste the latest one. If it doesn't work try another till it does. I haven't paid for delivery for two years!!I Believe in saving money!!!:T

i love peppers and in morrisons i got a bag of bumper peppers ( so the bag says) anyway it was £1.69 for 4. 3 yellow and one red. Yay as i hate green ones. i often buy tesco value one ( if i shop online) but find i generally get green ones in a bag.
i am however very jealous of spendless getting 6 for £1. but we have no fruit and veg markets.
the only market's we have are the type that sell dodgy looking i love the isle of wight tea towels. and a farmers market which is good quality but more expensive as it only sells isle of wight produce.0 -
Sometimes my local market does 10 peppers (red usually) for £1 or 6 of those long thin red peppers (sweet peppers?) for £1. I would have got some last week but decided to eat what I have in my fridge first
They are still quite firm and tasty and last well, not all squishy and over-ripe.

twink wrote:hugs to you poppielia, i grow my own peppers in the greenhouse and if i leave the green peppers on the plant they turn red, i might be wrong but think the green peppers you buy would turn red too, someone else might know
I think they only do that on the plant - I only like them when they are red, think they are bitter and orrible when green!"The happiest of people don't necessarily have the

Hi guineapig...
How did you make your creamy pepper sauce, sounds delish (I'm vegan too).
:AI want to move to theory. Everything works in theory.0 -
You can make a roasted red pepper sauce by roasting the peppers with some olive oil (or grilling them and then removing the blackened skins) and then blend with a hand blender or in a blender, add salt and pepper to taste - can be made in bulk and frozen. Defrost in fridge and then reheat gently. For a spicy sauce add some chilli flakes when you roast the peppers, or for a herby one add some fresh thyme, alternatively add torn basil leaves to the sauce just before serving.
For non-vegans/vegetarians this sauce is great with chicken."The happiest of people don't necessarily have the

Well these were in a jar with oil ( bought just as an experiment to see what they were like)
Drained off 95% of the oil added a bit of Soya milk(about 30 mls?) a tea spoon ( or 2)of nutritional yeast flakes and wizzed it up with my Braun turbo stick blender ( what did I ever do with out it?)(The milk wizzed with the oil made the peppers creamy MMMmmmmmmmmmm)
Then heated it up over a gentle heat, very yummy.
When I do them from fresh I wash, chop & de seed them, nuke 'em for 4 mins, then blend, with 3 large tablespoons of tomato puree, a table spoon of oil, a good pinch of black pepper and chilli pepper ( both ground over the big jug) wizz up with the wonderous hand held blender, ta da! that is my "spicy/chilli" version of the pepper sauce and it is very rich and oh so fab with gnocci:D
I have not found it necessary to roast peppers, I dont' think there is any discernible difference in taste and whilst zapping them in the Microwave isn't for everyone, it sure does save on Gas and leccy;)
finally, the frozen pepper slices I bought from Morrisons for about 67p ( I think) made enough pepper sauce ( choose your options above;) for 4 people ( meals) and we like a lot of sauce!
That'll teach you to ask!:rotfl: ..............* goes off to find cure for virtual verbal diarrhoea:o0
