Hi everyone. Thanks for the replies. I cant shop online as i dont and cant get a credit or debit card even though i do work part time. The reason i am having to do some costcuttin is because even though i am working part time and get working/child tax we are as badly off as i was on benefits but i dont want to give up my job or i would be very isolated and i cant increase my hours at work as i was working full time but the stress on myself and my daughter was too much. I dont like shop bought frozen peppers as they always taste odd and seem very tough in texture which is why i buy them fresh and freeze them myself. I will go to my local market next week and see what the prices are like again just to make sure really. We have bought the asda smartprice peppers before but they usualy seem to be mostly green peppers and my daughter and myself are not too keen on green peppers but i will keep an eye out for them when they have mainly red/orange/red peppers in them. Thanks again everyone and have a fab weekend.2007 Competition challenge.( Win back my ntl internet costs for a year) Target £220 Have won so far = £9.99 Loreal revitalift pot of cream. and = £14.95 Royal mail smilers stamps!

Do you have a Morrisons locally? Their value multipacks of peppers seem to have a good mix of colours - last time I managed to get a pack with all red+yellow+orange (don't much like green).

Hi poppielia
Try the market again, ours is definitely much cheaper.
Just another point, you mention buying bottles of squash. I used to buy squash every week until one day I just thought why buy it. Now my kids just drink tap water. They have never complained and I'm sure it's better for them too. I bought two bottles of squash at Christmas for a treat and they aren't finished yet, they always ask for water instead.

Hi there is a morrisons in my town but it is further away than asda so would cost more to get there and back so would cancel out any savings i might make on the peppers lol.
And i am quite lucky as my daughter likes drinking water too but the reason i buy it is for the both of us as i drink it too as i dont drink tea or coffee ect. Does anyone else feel fed up sometimes about constantly having to watch every penny and by having to cut back so much when you havnt really got that much in the first place?
Am feeling really fed up with it at the moment and wondering why i bother trying to be honest! (sorry just wanted to share my grumpiness today!) lol

hugs to you poppielia, i grow my own peppers in the greenhouse and if i leave the green peppers on the plant they turn red, i might be wrong but think the green peppers you buy would turn red too, someone else might know0

Hi Poppelia.
I totally agree, sometimes it's hard to bear having to watch every penny and deny yourself everything. I'm sorry if my comment about squash annoyed you.
I'm feeling down today too as it is the first sunny day for ages and I can't face taking the children out as they would only ask for small things and I'd have to say no. I dont mind going without myself so much but I hate having to be such a mean and moany mum.Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620 -
hi I know that Sainsbury's bag of 3 peppers is £1.29 (they are a favourite in my home too:D) and the economy bag where you get 4 or 5 is about 89 pence. However you usually get lots of green peppers in the economy bag which are not as sweet and tasty as other coloured peppers (red, orange, yellow etc)0

Oh poppelia,
I know what you mean, sometimes things really get you down when "moneys to tight to mention"
However, Ive tried to think about things in a different way, thinking of things being moneysaving rather than tight
Sending you a hug

x:beer: Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -
