Virgin broadband 25% increase

Hello. Just got back from abroad and received a letter from Virgin telling me my broadband is going up by £5.00. I'm paying 19.99 at the moment. Its via a BT line as not in a cabled area. Methinks its a bloody big increase. Been with them since the NTHELL days.

If you are on Virgin National ADSL service then you have dozens of alternative ISP's. Time to leave.
Check your LLU options with an exchange search on https://www.samknows.com.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

Thanks for the reply. According to Sam this is my choice:
    • BT Wholesale ADSL
    • BT Wholesale ADSL Max
    • TalkTalk (CPW) LLU
    • Sky Broadband / Easynet LLU
    • EMNET Nottingham Wireless Broadband
How come Virgin aren't there? Just checked out BT and they are pricey as well. Ideally I want unlimited.

    Ta.

Just did a check on Sky's website and according to the checker I can get Sky Unlimited for £7.50/month. The speed checker says I can get 12.9Mbps - 19.0Mbps. I nearly fell off me chair and smashed me Mac. The fastest I have ever got with virgin is 6.4Mbps with the average between 3-4Mbps

Because Virgin National is not LLU. All non LLU providers are available on every exchange, so listing them all (dozens) would be futile.
Sky is clearly your best option on that exchange.
    It's unlimited subject to FUP.

  • Thanks again for replying. As a condition I have to have the line rental with Sky as well and it works out at £22.25 per month. Phone just rang as I was typing this and it was TalkTalk. Didn't answer.

I assume you are a Sky TV subscriber, otherwise you will be paying £10/month.

If you wish you can save a little on line rental by paying £119.40 up front for 12 months, i.e £9.95 /month equivalent.

They were running a 6months half price offer, I'd ring and ask.

PS Just noticed you are going for stand alone bb and talk.

  • I don't have Sky TV. How do you find them for downloading, fair usage etc?

Did you do a check via their online broadband checker? (Where you put in your number and see what speed/package they can offer). If yes then that's probably why you got the call. ;)
  • Virgin use C&W the old buldog network.

If your happy with your ADSL2+ service then maybe one of the C&W resellers such as Xilo, ADSL24 or Vivaciti . They all offer unlimited broadband from £17 per month.

Tesco also use C&W but there's a lot more restrictions on use.

    Cheers

Unlimited is unlimited, there is no FUP unless anyone can find one.

    PS Half price offer:-
