There's no way I'll be able to do this as all my extra cash is going to debt/mortgage repayments (just check out the HHHUUUUUGGGEEEE list in my signature!)
However, I wish you all the best of luck!
I'm including my debt repayments in the 12k! I see debt repayments and savings as kind of the same thing, my starting balance just happens to be -£10k instead of £00 -

Can I join in please?
I don't think I will be able to do it but thought that about the mortgage challenge and managed it so will give this a go. Its great to be part of a group as we can all spur each other on to save and be frugal.
I'm going to add it to my sig...Save £12k in 2012 no.49 £10,250/£12,000
Save £12k in 2013 no.34 £11,800/£12,000
'How much can you save' thread = £7,050
Total=£29,100
Mfi3 no. 88: Balance Jan '06 = £63,000. :mad:
Balance 23.11.09 = £nil.0 -

Ooooh, there's lots of new joiners! Hello everyone!
63 days until we can start saving (for this challenge anyway!)
I have my signature updated already...how sad! Lol0 -
Still baffled how most can be saving £12k in a year. Like I said, I live fairly frugally (at home!) - with £30k gross income savings are only £900 a month (student loan, digs, food, petrol). Knock of a couple £k when you factor in a holiday and car insurance & service and it looks more like £8k a year. God knows how anybody saves on a single income in a rented place, with no kids and no benefits! Are you lot considering dual incomes, or is it just a very high single income??0

guitarman - you should join and see if you can push yourself! I'm not saying this is going to be easy, in fact for most people, myself included, it will be the exact opposite, but that's why it's a challengeBe who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.

£12K is a target, it's a stretch. It's there as a challenge, if I hit it great, if I miss it then I know I've done my best, aimed high and saved a lot along the way.
However, I'm going to give it my best shot.0
