I cant believe that people think that lying on C.V s and application forms isnt widespread. We will never know because obviously we cant ask the whole country can we but its even been in the papers about the issue.
I couldnt care less whether someone lied or not and I missed out because I would assume that everyone was bang at it so its upto me to be best at interview and convince the employer.
People lie because it gains then advantage and they want to get ahead.

I dont think everyone does it to make myself feel better, because I dont care.

Unless your in a very highly vetted job, people will and do all the time get away with it.

If you lie about your CV, what else will you lie about ? If you're caught out you're stuffed.

Turn it round on them.. Tell them you feel uncomfortable with their insistence of proof and you feel like they don't believe you.

    I agree with scheming gypsy....
    turn it around on them.

I would be offended if an employer wanted proof of something so personal, even if I had been travelling around europe in a campervan.

Just say you never really kept any proof.....afterall, when your touring, you haven't got space to store papers etc etc

I once did exactly the same thing..except told the employer I had been looking after my Mum who was diagnosed with breast cancer (she really did). If they had wanted proof, it would have been relatively easy to do. But if they had've asked for proof, I would've been annoyed! So next time you lie, try and keep it close to the truth.

A friend of mine didnt want to disclose her previous employer and said she had chosen to have a career break as she had bought a house that needed renovating (she really had).

No matter how good we are, we all have a bit of our past that we don't want to disclose.

Just because someone lies on their CV, doesnt mean they lie about other things!

    Yes, if you don't have a P45..

You have the option to send your P45 to the tax office directly, instead of the employer.

:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.

I read this on the internet:

12 Ways to Get a Second Chance in Life

“Nobody can go back and start a new beginning,
but anyone can start today and make a new ending.”
    -Maria Robinson
We all need second chances. This isn’t a perfect world. We’re not perfect people. I’m probably on my 1000th second chance right now and I’m not ashamed to admit it. Because even though I’ve failed a lot, it means I’ve tried a lot too.
We rarely get things right the first time. Almost every major accomplishment in a person’s life starts with the decision to try again and again – to get up after every failed attempt and give it another shot.
The only difference between an opportunity and an obstacle is attitude. Getting a second chance in life is about giving yourself the opportunity to grow beyond your past failures. It’s about positively adjusting your attitude toward future possibilities...

If prospective employers were more understanding....no-one would need to lie would they?

So if you told them you had previously held a job that went pear-shaped, they probably wouldn't give you the job, would they?

    It's do or die...

Better than losing your home and everything, because you lost out on a job cos you told the truth!

Who cares what you were like in a previous job....its what your gonna be like that matters!
