I agree, but truckers comment about the bank bailouts being the biggest amount the government has spent ever, is obviously rubbish.0 -
They fail to realise that the private sector and tax payers, pay for the public sector. When the public sector becomes too big (thank you Labour/Unions), and they cost more than the amount of tax what comes in we have a deficit.
Anyone can moan at the current situation, doctors, nurses, and other public sector employee, the poor, the old, and of course our friends the unions. They all want something but the poor don't realise that while they protest about squeezed money the bloke stood next to them is protesting that the gov are not taking more from the guy at his side to cover his pension.
Same group different motives0 -

Biggest amount might be strong.
But I can't imagine AD and GB had investing 850 billion in banks as one of their top priorities when faced with a looming recession.
...and it had nothing to do with trucks!0 -

Wouldn't call it wealthy to be honest. Not a lot to show for 35 years in private sector employment if you look at it on an annual basis. Probably due to being overtaxed to pay for the parasitical public sector and their pensions and benefit cheats.0 -

Your comments are as devoid of figures as my own!
And, in reply to the post after yours, the worldwide government austerity measures are nothing to do with the UK union movement, or the low UK tax-take

AD and GB should have seen it coming and left something in the pot for such eventualities.0 -
WE ALL have to pay more in tax to get better services. Do the maths.
Cos 'we are all in this together' right?

The low paid workers in Tesco probably paid more tax........Dont wait for your boat to come in 'Swim out and meet the bloody thing'

Any business should be allowed to fail if they balls up. Problem is governments let them get too big to fail.
At heart, I'm just a charitable softie, and I think it is entirely possible that the banks themselves were not aware of their absolute stranglehold until the day they failed
Bankers and Politicians share the same bed, and neither expected the other to rock the boat - why would they, when life was so good?
But now the banks have tightened their grip, and will not willingly let go
If the politicians don't wake up soon, and make their own separate sleeping arrangements, then groups like UKuncut may begin to force change upon them. And groups like UKuncut are generally linked with extreme left-wing/communist politics
