Hi

I have always found help on here and I am always very grateful for advice

Somehow the sound driver/card has been deleted I think
.

I thought that the reason we had no noise coming out of the pc was because the wires had been chewed by my DD's pet. I have just put earphones in and looked for volume control but it is not there.

I have been onto help and it looks like I have not got an sound or audio device?

Help please

What does Device Manager tell you? Reinstall the drivers from there if necessary.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

Try clicking start, right click computer or my computer, click device manager if shown, or click properties then device manager, near the bottom, click the + next to sound, video, games controllers, if it lists the name of the soundcard, it is likely to have a marking next to it, left click the soundcard name, right click it, then click update driver

If none of that applies, download speccy from here, click download latest version on the right, untick any offers of toolbars during the install

    http://filehippo.com/download_speccy/

Run it then click audio, it may take a while to gather the information

    Look under Audio Devices.
The PC manufacturer's site will have the drivers available for download.

Can you check what the audio tab of speccy gives you

Can you post the make and model of the motherboard from speccy, and the make and model of the PC if it isn't a custom build. It may have onboard sound.

    Which version of Windows?
