Hope your hangover isn't too bad this morning ojo :D

Now-I read all the Doris Stokes books, and she said that if you sense a presence, you have to say out loud 'Thanks for visiting-but you're scaring me, could you please stop now, and move on'

I thought it was a load of twaddle to be honest, until a 21 year old girl (called jo funnily enough) was killed on her way to work (I was the boss at that time). After that-chairs would flip up and down -they were like cinema seats- and various other little things. Convinced me she'd made it to work after all.. And yes- I felt extremely silly standing saying 'Look Jo, thanks for visiting us, but you're scaring us to death-all is well, we miss you but you can move on now' The chair thing stopped after that.

Scoff if you like-but I was the most pessimistic of them all until that. Scared the carp right out of me!
Worth a try maybe eh? :o
Ruaridh Armstrong-missing since 05/11/11. Come home old boy-we miss you x

If you can't stand behind our troops, please feel free to stand in front of them.

I will respect your opinions, even if I don't agree with them :)

What do you mean when you say you sense it but not see it - but you know its black? Im not taking the p*** just curious as to what you mean.

The best way I can describe my experiences is like this: you know you sometimes get the feeling that you are being watched? I used to feel it when I was alone in the house, and just out of the corner of my eye I could see a dark figure standing in the doorway. When I turned to face the doorway, there was no-one there.
Good enough is good enough, and I am more than good enough!:j

Actually I know what she means.
When we moved here just over five years ago,big old house dates back 150 years I got a very clear image in my minds eye of someone I felt was in a particular room that was always very cold.
Never mentioned it to anyone but my husband a complete cynic mentioned it to me and described the same person.
Not only that but my then 18 year old grand-daughter did the same days later even refusing to go into the room.
Everyone always mentions they feel "watched" in that room.
Me and OH have also seen a cat walk into the living room several times both at the SAME time when we've been sitting there watching TV.
It appears half way across the room and disappears a few feet away but is very clear at one point.
Strangely the cat does'nt bother us at all,we don't mind that.
Maybe because animals have pure souls they don't make us feel so threatened.
We mentioned it to the lady who lived here before us and she admitted straight out to having some "funny goings on".
She even mentioned having the spiritulists in,something I don't recommend.
I refuse to let it bother me now,its my home and I have to live in it.

We also had several other things happen over the 18 months when we were renovating the house but thats settled down now.
I won't mention them as I'm not going to leave myself open to ridicule when I know very strongly these things happened.

I can't see anything in the picture with the red circle.......

    :)Morning all. :o

Feeling decidedly fragile today. Been a long time since I drank that much.

Apologies for the poor spelling. I didn't realise my fingers and the keyboard were no longer 'as one'. :D

Thank you for all your advice. I'm going to mull some of it over this morning.

Someone asked what I meant when I said 'sensed'...I don't know how to explain it. It's like trying to explain an orgasm to someone who has never experienced one. You just don't understand until you have one yourself. :D I don't see anything with my eyes the way you would if there was something actual in front of you. It's more like just having a picture appear suddenly in your head at odd times. I was folding towels and putting them away on a shelf unit in the hall when I first 'felt' there was a man (old and tall) standing along from me at the end of the hall, and he was wearing black trousers and a long black overcoat. Sounds hugely crazy I know. :o (And no, I don't drink all the time! :D)

OH and I were sat in the living room the other night and the tv switched over by itself. I switched the iron on at the socket the other day, went to get some stuff from the dryer and when I came back the iron was switched off. Make of that what you will.

OH is about ready to jack the job in and go home so I dont talk to him about the stuff I feel. Going home just isn't an option financially at the moment and we need to stick it out so I do the moaning on here and the 'hi honey, how was your day' routine in real life.

Emmzi, hope you don't mind me saying (honestly not trying to be argumentative) but I think your comment about me seeming 'determined to be sad' is a little unfair? Having said that, I do understand that all you guys get is my moaning on here so you do only ever see the one side of things. I do often point out that I use this place as an outlet and the way I am on here is not the way I conduct myself in real life. Nor are the experiences I post about on here, the only experiences I have. We have good times and laughs here too, it's just that those are shared at home with each other whereas the bad times I tend to share with you lot, so I don't bring my lot down iyswim? :D Hope I haven't offended, just wanted to point that out. :)

I once lived in a flat that I hated. It's a horrible feeling, it was cold and strange feeling even when the hallway outside was warm. The dog woke us up howling early one Sunday morning cos the guy next door had died :( We ended up moving into his flat a month later and strangley it was warm and nice and lovely. He was a lovely old bloke though.
I don't see anything, well apart from the guy on the left had side.

:( Make it go away!!! OMG I can see it even when I'm not looking at it. Flippin eck I'm glad I wasn't reading this last night.

I aint in a million years clicking that youtube link ;) I just know it'll scare the sh*t outta me!!
Even if you stumble, you're still moving forward.
  • You are more than entitled to moan, better on here than keeping it in!

I remember vividly visiting a house my parents wanted to buy when I was about 6 or 7. It was a much bigger house than the one we lived in, my room would have been a decent double room instead of the postage stamp room I had (it was so small that I had to have a sliding door instead of a normal opening door!) The area was much better and I remember loving it from the outside. When I got into the house, it had the strangest feeling to it, very oppressive and cold. It was odd because the family living there had grown up and left home, so the parents were selling and downsizing. I told my parents that the house was odd and luckily the sale fell through anyway for other reasons.

You can clear the house of any unseen residents, maybe this would make you feel easier about living there?

Given that no-one has actually said what they've seen that is scary in the picture with the red circle, I believe that you are all making it up.

I'm with those who say they see nothing.

One of the ladies I used to work with had to have her house exorcised (sp?), but then they had a poltergeist.
I always thought (from the films!) that a poltergeist haunted a person (as opposed to a ghost, which haunts a house).

But I don't believe in any of that (or astrology) so here's some of my suggestions...

Paint (with landlord's permission!) the rooms in the house where you feel least at ease. Make it feel your own.
Put some pictures up. Photos of friends and family, wedding photos, baby photos (if you have them) etc.
Get out of the house as much as you can. At this early stage I wouldn't be worried about "making friends" but at least get plenty of human contact. Even if it's just a case of going for a walk in the park and saying "hello" to the dog walkers, or going to the library and talk to the librarian about one of your favourite authors.
Drink plenty of water. Do some exercise. Flush and sweat out all those nasty thoughts.
Make a medium term plan. Make a list of what you want to achieve and by when. And do it.
Consider talking to your husband about the problems. I completely understand why you wouldn't want to burden him with them, but I also think it might help.

On the left of the picture just a little above halfway there is a face peaking round the pillar. (well I think thats what we're supposed to see??) Not that scary really.
    Booo!!!
