We had him cremated instead. I keep his ashes in my wardrobe so I can shout at him now and then when things go wrong. The house elf (my now 6 year old son) doesn't want to part with his daddy's ashes as he feels that would be like his daddy leaving him for good. We did however have some of the ashes placed in glass hearts for a very reasonable and smallish sum of money by a company called Bath Aqua Glass who have very sensitive and caring staff. As the elf said when we received them "Look mummy, daddy is always in my heart now".
How absolutely lovely! What a wonderful thing your son said - children come out with the best of things - they say it straight form the heart without the awkwardness many of us get as adults.
I can imagine wanting to sometimes rant at Mr greent afterwards, should anything happen to him - so the line about shouting at Mr Cranky's ashes in your wardrobe brought a wry smile to my face - and I was promptly asked what I was smiling at by him - he agreed I'd probably shout at him in that case!I am the master of my fate; I am the captain of my soulRepaid mtge early (orig 11/25) 01/09 £124616 01/11 £89873 01/13 £52546 01/15 £12133 07/15 £NILNet sales 2024: £200 -

Greent - so sorry :grouphug:
Taurus - good luck
I had lots to post tonight but I can't concentrate. I've been glued to the Tv watching the last Indycar race of the season. Was desparately rooting for Dario to win the championship again (which he now has by default) but there has been a horrific accident and I can't focus on anything else. One of the drivers looks very badly hurt and nobody knows what is happening. Much as I live and breath motor racing my stomach is doing somersaults just now.
I'll be back tomorrow - I think a lot of people need candles lit for them tonight:(0 -

Big hugs to everyone who needs them, especially Mrs VP, greent, JackieG and Taurusgb. My candle has been lit since just before dusk.
I've had a real OS day here. I managed to repair my slippers which were in danger of causing me a major accident as the sole and top had almost completely parted company. I also made some yummy soup at lunchtime. I got a big bag of whoopsied carrots yesterday so after some googling I came up with my own invented soup "Morrocan honey-ed carrot soup"
2 onions finely chopped
750g carrots diced
1 litre veg stock
1 tsp ground coriander
1 tsp ground cumin
1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
1 dessert spoon honey
Fry the onion in some olive oil, then add the carrots and sweat with the lid on for around 5-10 minutes. Add the spices and cook for 1 minute, then add the honey and cook for another minute. Finally add the stock, bring to the boil and simmer for about 20 minutes, or until the carrots are done. Then blitz in the blender. It was yummy!
And today's cookery lesson is: never under-estimated how powerful just 1 teaspoon of green curry paste can be. I decided it didn't look much and threw another couple of teaspoons into my curry just to be safe:eek:
Hope everyone has an ok week.0 -
