Ooh, I go away for a bit and come back to HJ's shiny new thread.

I'd like to say it was for a special reason, but it was just that my evenings were taken up watching ALL SEVEN SEASONS of Buffy the Vampire Slayer with my daughterLove to you all. Happy OS-ing x

Yay you're back!! :j:j:j:j:j:j:j Can't believe we lost you to a vampire programme  and if you think I am recommending something else for you to watch so you can b*gger off again you can whistle for it. :p

:D no mucking up HJ's spanking new thread and I shall revist you tomorrow to enjoy the fun.

Ahem. Tis EVERYONE'S thread so don't be expecting me to clean up the [STRIKE]smut [/STRIKE]mess.;):p

Lovely to see so many more joining us today. Would like to see Frugalista posting more often though cos I can see her lurking.:D

My painting is finished. :j Well that's a lie but the downstairs is done so at least I'm not frightened to let people in any more. Our bedroom is the next job but I need a day off (more acturately I need a day to catch up with washing, ironing, gardening and cleaning :() so will leave that until the weekend. I am so pleased with the results of our hard work that it was almost worth the effort. I'm still getting a man in next time though. :rotfl:

OH has been despatched to MIL's to chop some seasoned wood as the stove is munching into our supplies. 9 degrees here too Mardatha. When he gets back we are treating ourselves to a take away as a reward. I've saved a fortune on my food bill with the girlies being away so I think we can stretch to whatever our local Indian establishment can tempt us with.:D

Off to look at the news as I've heard none today.

How much did I laugh when someone earlier posted about buying Kale thinking Mardatha was MIA... Then, immediately, she appeared :eek::eek::eek:

Gas usage - I am delighted that, having invested in putting an open fire into my living room, and the boiler that was replaced in spring, that I will actually be spending less on gas this year than previous years - apparently my old boiler was only 50% efficient  And I can get free wood for the fire which I expect to heat most of the house as its brilliantly insulated and holds the heat well. Well done me - less money in the hands of the energy companies :T

Did anybody else hear that the government were complaining that they are losing valuable taxes because people aren't using their cars as much anymore!!!!

Super frugal meal I made a few days ago -

1 large open cup mushroom (cut half up very finely and the other half chunkier)
    Spaghetti
    clove (or 2) of garlic
    dried parsley
oil/butter (I used half olive oil and half lurpak)

Cook spaghetti. Cook mushrooms on a medium heat in the oil/butter, add crushed garlic and parsley. Add the spaghetti to the pan with a small amount of the cooking water - stir and serve.

I keep a pot of powdered parmesan (blitz in food processor for restaurant style) in the freezer and just put a couple of tsps on the top - no need to defrost first. You could leave that out - or use any cheese.

You can be really tight with the mushrooms in this recipe as the garlic is the real star here :D

I think I will have that for dinner again tonight yummmmmy

I couldn't keep up with the old thread - did we get shut down again or what happened? PM me with the gossip please someone :D

I haven't heard the government complaining no, but I bet they are. I think back a handful of years ago and every family around where we lived were a two car family. Nowadays I know so many Mum's and a few Dad's who have given up work to look after their children as childcare costs became unmanageable and subsequently got shot of the second car too.

I love I don't have a car to do the mumsy tasks, makes life so much more [STRIKE]difficult[/STRIKE] interesting ;):rotfl::p:D

    Evening all!

I have had an exhausting day today- and as a result i have been and bought a meal deal from tesco (£5 for pizza, garrlic bread and cheesecake), and a bottle of wine :o

Went to the dentist this morning and then had a call from my friend who was in A&E after a dog bit her finger off after attacking her dog!!

So, instead of getting some xmas bits as planned, i spent the day in A&E with her.

I was so shattered (what is it with sitting in hospitals that makes you tired??), so got the tesco bits and bobs on the way home as i just didnt have the energy to cook tonight.:o

Must do better tomorrow! Someone kick my backside!!
