Begs the question "rough" compared to where ? Eg where do you currently live ?I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole
MSE Florida wedding .....no problem0 -
In comparison to the rest of Notts and the surrounding areas it is quite nice. Not really rough at all, I feel pretty safe if I have to walk around later at night, mostly students around the place. Depending on where your work is located exactly you have some other options to live if you wanted.
Long Eaton, Chilwell, Stapleford, Sandiacre, Bramcote are all ok areas close to Beeston but moving away from Notts. Tend to find those nicer areas though traffic is a big problem in the morning depending where your coming from.
Once you get an exact location let us know where it is in Beeston (or pm if you prefer) and I could you the low down.0 -
I live in Chilwell, which is part of Beeston. I have also lived in Beeston, Leeds!
Beeston Nottingham on the whole is nice, definately one of the nicer parts of Nottingham. We have great Bus and Rail services, 10 Mins from Junction 25 of M1 and about 25 Mins from East Midlands Airport, We are also supposed to be getting the Tram soon!
When I moved back from Leeds after my relationship breakdown I couldnt get a Council House, They wouldn't even put me on the list as I was working and already had a new job lined up before I moved back, but I have heard of people getting 1 Bed quite quickly. I had the displeasure of living on the Council Estate in Beeston for 3 Years when my Parents broke up....So would rather private rent anyway!
Jane Torvill used to live in Beeston!! lol!!! :rotfl:0 -
Are you working for Tesco or Boots by any chance?0

Hmm.....Evergreen Chinese - love that place. Nom.If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.0 -
although im kind of grateful for the geography lesson its not what i was expecting on here
Well when i started composing that answer the OP hadn't yet specified which of the many Beestons they lived in. Garbage in = garbage out, and all that.If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything0 -
Beeston is fine. It was considered more upmarket than nearby Long Eaton and housing is more expensive. There is a lot of student accomodation but also a lot of nice houses in nice areas.
The town is nice, with plenty of facilities.
Nearby Chilwell is smaller (ish) with lots of new housing developments but not a lot in the way of facilities which makes it quieter.
If the housing association can't help, then try privately rented accommodation - there will be plenty about.
Beeston is a short train journey from Nottingham and has its own station. The Cabbage
Its Advice - Take it or Leave it:D0 -
I'm from Chilwell which is pretty much Beeston.
Beeston is alright although it has seen better days. Mostly full of grannies, students (Nottingham University is nearby), the occasional chav and 5 million charity shops.
In summary, a bit dull and average but you're not likely to get mugged.0 -

That one on Bramcote Avenue is nice too and really cheap, just not walking distance for me unless I fancy a cold dinner :rotfl::rotfl:0
