Erm, yes! (Unless there have been some large changes in the last year) They couldn't even place me as a high risk pregnancy (was on bed rest from 22 weeks) but managed something at the 11th hour, thank goodness.

Well the lady told me it wouldn't take too long with my employment moving down there.

Lol, I used to run a pub there and it was a ball! (Too much of a ball, the pub is now boarded up!!) Locals are friendly and I liked it - but I'm a Nottingham girl anyway, so I would say that :) Some parts are rough, as with any where. Nice little centre with shops etc and near the Uni. Which HA did you apply with? As with everywhere, housing is an issue here.

Well I've lived here and worked here all my life, and that didn't make any difference for me unfortunately. Their solution was for me to squat! Areas to avoid (IMHO) Aspley, Broxtowe, areas of St Anns, Hyson Green (Forest Fields is next door, loved it there, but disliked Hyson Green for some reason) and Radford (most of these shouldn't affect you as wrong side of the City, but worth mentioning anway)

Nice areas: Mapperley, Sherwood, Mapperley Park, Carlton, Gedling. Chilwell, Bramcote and Wollaton.

Just my opinion, and some are out of area for you, but just because you're going to be working in Beeston, doesn't mean you have to live that side of the city. It's worth looking around.

All I know is I am to be working in beeston don't even know where. I think the reason is I live away from work. If you worked in beeston and lived in beeston you can easily get to work.

I live 1 hr 20 minutes away so that is probably why she said i would be a priority

Blimey, well if living away from work is considered a higher priority than being at risk from bleeding to death (which I nearly did) and losing your child (which I nearly did) you'll be fine :)

I know council works in strange ways.

I used to love in Beeston about three years ago and I really liked it. I didn't think it was rough at all.

Beeston isn't rough by Nottingham standards. It's mostly full of students nowadays as it's close to the Uni. There are lots (and I mean lots) of Chinese students around there. The town centre is very run down though and you sometimes get a few chavs knocking about. They've just opened a big new tesco and they've also got a new tram-line being built there starting next year so things are looking up for the area.

There is a mixture of people - a few chavs, young workers but mostly students. Don't be concerned about it being rough it's pretty vibrant with only a few pockets of chavdom.

I used to live pretty near there when I did my nurse training and also worked at the Siemens there for a while. I liked it - good facilities and good transport links. Place is crawling with students though.
