Is your problem that David Cameron said it?

If not, what is your problem with it? You haven't said, just said you feel uneasy, though it appears this is more a political thing for you.

I'm uncomfortable because people are being asked to report illegal immigrants but in the PM's speech he gives no clues what we are meant to be looking for. In fact no-one has much of a clue what we are looking for.

On top of that this is a government responsibility not public. It's different from reporting lawbreaking because unless you see someone smuggle themselves into the UK it's difficult to determine their residential status.

Not sure if that counts as political.

This makes me uncomfortable. How is anyone meant to know who is an illegal immigrant?

If the government is serious about illegal immigration surely they are in a better position to deal with it rather than relying on tip offs from the public.

Is it because I Is Black?

In that case, would you fail to report a mugging/assault/arson attack/etc.?

Of course I would report a crime if I witnessed one. Even you should see the difference between reporting an actual crime and reporting people you suspect are illegal.

    Not many practical examples there.

GD had a stab - full houses, car washers & workmen offering services in the street.

Yes, full houses, that's very suspicious. Call the hotline. Better safe than sorry.

No need to take what I said out of context. Though there may be a need should you wish to make a point.

A house suddenly full, and I mean full, I don't mean two adults, a kid and a dog, of foreign males for instance.

    Wouldn't arouse your suspisions....at all?

This is more to do with being staunch labour supporters and trying to make cameron look silly. However, it's backfiring.

Sounds like one of those bear parties!

Please stop that labour vs. cons, it's getting old :)
I just don't think it's desirable for Joe Public to be reporting and snitching on other people based on suspicions.

I really don't see why not.

We all play a part in crime reduction. If I were suspicious that someone were breaking into your house, I'm sure you'd want me to report it.

Different strokes for different folks I guess.

    Okay.
There's a difference between reporting an actual crime and reporting someone based on a suspicion. You know that, so I'll leave you to it. Enjoy your evening.

    I don't believe there is.

How do I know that it isn't actually being a crime commited, but you have just let your estranged cousin stay over and they are fumbling for a key you have left them?

We just supposed to give absolutely everyone the benefit of the doubt until they are actually proven guilty?

Nothing happens to them if they are not guilty. It's likely they won't even know they were reported.
