well unless the OP is just going to post the items to any address then they are going to need the name and address of the purchaser and the delivery address. also what i said was (which some ecommerce sites will ask for).
every site i have gone too even if they use paypal/sagepay or any other processor has always asked name, address, tel , email address and then delivery details if different

Your correct in the norm they do but they DON'T require that info if they are paying through paypal. If your using paypal you should be shipping to the paypal address anyway which you can only get from paypal when the custy pays.

As already said what you SHOULD do is very different to what you can do, your advising people to ring business link for information which you even stated they gave you information incorrectly...TOP ADVICE BTW
Everyones opinion is the most important.....no wonder nothing is ever agreed on.

this was before i called again and got the second bit of advice, no wonder BL is being disbanded by the government

Thats because they were jack of all trades masters of none. All they had was information that was published, half if not more of the advisors have never ran a business and don't have the first clue of what is and isn't actually required. All of the information they have is usually available to everyone if you go and look for it, its how you present that information that makes the difference.

  • Ive used Magento before and found it very good.
  • Using a free shop like PrestaShop (which is what I use) but customising the theme with CSS (which is what I did!) is always good. As for hosting, I got given mine :P but people like 1&1 are quite cheap, and often throw in a free domain name. SSL unfortunately is a must for a proper e-shop (for the profile page, registration, login, checkout and cart).

SSL is not needed if using a third party checkout.

It's unlikely the OP (who probably hasn't looked at this thread for a while) would use registration/profile/login etc.
