Anybody who manages to get a room for pennies has got a sensational bargain in this current economy.

I managed to get 5 nights end July start of August at the Westminster hotel for only £40 total and thought I had done amazingly well.

A decent room in Central London typically costs £50+ per night minimum, excluding the usual cheap Sunday night offers.

I cannot believe the negative comments, some people would moan if they found a £20 note on the floor as they would have to bend over to pick it up!

Got a room last time they where a penny. Tiny with no windows but good for 1p.

    Stay period is 4 Jan-31 May 2012.

Website says the room with no windows is a 'special needs room' !! :rotfl:

That's the hotels terms not the terms of the 2p offer

Oh yeah. There don't appear to be any specific terms for the deal.

Possibly because both times last time it was the usual mad crazy rush , website crashing , rooms gone very quickly etc , lots of disgruntled people who couldn't get one....

I have stayed at Tune Westminster before, for the princely sum of £12.50 per night. (OH was adamant he wanted windows, but he kept them closed throughout our stay! I was mildly annoyed as I could have got a room for £0.01 if I had known he was going to do that!)

The pictures on the website are fairly representative of what you will (or won't!) get. The rooms are very small, you won't get a towel or daily cleaning included in the base and the small shower/toilet room will get soaked in water. Have a look at the pictures - the shower part is divided with a short curtain and the shower is level to the rest of the floor. There's no recessed shower tray to catch the water - if you can have a shower without soaking the rest of the room, you're a better person than I am.

That said, if all you need is a place to lay your head in London, it's a fantastic option. Most of the room is taken up with the bed - and it's large and very comfy. The air con unit was a bit noisy, but the traffic wasn't and the bed was, I repeat, very comfy. They market themselves as budget room but 5* bed and that's quite accurate. The room may be tiny, but getting a good night's sleep is the main point and they do deliver on this.

Because of the shower issues and the lack of space, I wouldn't recommend Tune for anyone with young kids, but I would certainly recommend it to students and older singles/couples on a budget. The customer service is also excellent - it's not a case of paying very little and being treated badly like some budget chains!

The booking will be held in one name - make sure it's the name of the person who isn't liable to cancel, because if I recall correctly, the booking is not valid unless that person turns up. It's not like the Travelodge where you can pass on a room to anyone. If one of you works in the kind of job where your holiday might be rescinded at short notice, put the booking in the other person's name so to be sure at least one of you will get use out of it.

This sale is for their new hotel at Liverpool Street, but I imagine it's comparable.

Good luck with the sale, all!

Oh well, dd decided to vomit all over my bed this morning so didn't get on it time.

TBH the windowless room was good for 1p, but you couldn't walk round the bed, the walls surrounded the bed-the shower flooded the 2 ft squared bathroom, but there is a seal on the door to stop the water going in the bedroom. It was fine to sleep in but pretty claustrophobic. Staff where helpful, location great. Worth noting that there is no kettle, for those that masy want to take a travel kettle.

Not moaning btw, just describing :)
