Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Sunday 9th October. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Morning all!

Wow i'm first, whats going on? Normally i'm one of the last

Well what a change in the past few days from baking hot soon to bone chilling winds. But the butterflies are still flying everywhere and were eating red tomatoes off the vine.

finally got the van:j , roof rack pipe holder and almost a logo ready to print on letter heads!

Spending today sortin more office stuff, making bread and snacks. Also attempting to finish / knit snips (ds2) a red cardigan or in his words a generator rex jacket. So far so good. First time i've ever knitted something, OH reckons its looks quite flash. :D

Well better get a shift on and wake the monkeys up.

Have a good day all.

Morning Kezlou - thanks for starting the thread! Was just about to do it!

Had a lovely time last night, went to OH's aunt's house for his nan's birthday. Then met up with our friend who is just back from Devon - he's bought us back some lovely scrumpy :)

Have sorted out the bedroom, washed dishes from yesterday, lifted a lamb joint out for dinner and a quiche for lunch. OH has gone to work with pup, so will be all quiet when i get in and i can sort the rest of the house!

    Happy Birthday for yesterday CG!

    Have a lovely day all

  • Morning Kezlou and all who cross and follow

Grey and windy here and so dark. Just want to hibernate. Have the big dog snoring here. Guess he'll get up in a minute and want to go out :D.

CANDYGIRL Happy Birthday, hope you had a good time
BB hope things are better soon
Big hugs to anyone else who needs one today.

will walk the dog on the way to school. Finally sorted my house insurance out, got a good deal but why is it when you try to buy something they always want to sell you something else! And it's always more expensive.

Then I've got the gym later, plus need to sort out the chicken from yesterday. We've got another school open evening to go to as well. Really finding it hard to motivate myself at the mo.

Right this won't get jobs done. Have a good day all.

Trying desperately to sort my house out as I have sooooooo much clutter. Will do a morning of sorting and then an afternoon of ironing - I live the high life!!! OS wise - dinner will be out of the freezer and lunch for me will be a tin of soup from my storecupboard!

    Morning everyone,

It is really windy here today, I have pegged the washing out on the line and I hope that it will still be there when I get home!

DS starts his work experience this morning in the local guitar shop, well actually he starts at 1pm! That is not work as I know it! Never mind, I am sure that he will have a good time and he is hoping that he may get a saturday job out of it.

Busy day at work today and then ferrying the children around this evening.

Hope you had a good birthday yesterday Candy.

Hugs to all that need them.

    Have a lovely day everyone.:)

Hi everyone. Slightly warmer and brighter here this morning after a cool grey weekend.

We were invited round for lunch with friends yesterday, and had the most fantastic roast dinner, with home-made pate and tomato soup for starters, and fresh fruit crumble for pudding. Along with a fair few glasses of vino, we came home well and truly stuffed. It was nice not to have to cook, as well!

Today, dinner will be a casserole because I just fancy one, and I bought some lovely stewing steak the other day so want to use that up.

I have a smallish pile of ironing to do so the conundrum is whether to do it while it's small or wait until it's a huge mountainous pile, then have problems getting round to it. I'll see how I feel once the other chores are done. Sometimes (in fact most of the time) ironing just doesn't strike me as a good way to spend time.

Candy Girl - hope you had a good birthday!

Well, I'd better get on with the chores, then I have a bit of admin to do - see, I'm already finding ways to avoid that ironing!

    Have a great day, everyone.

    Morning everyone

Can see a bit of blue sky with light cloud this morning, still quite windy though, but haven't been outside yet so don't know about the temperature.

DH up and off to work at stupid early o'clock. Lunch went ok yesterday friends seemed to enjoy and there were no leftovers on the plates so hope they did enjoy and were not being polite! Was very good and cleared up as I was cooking and then managed to get the DW packed with as much as possible once we'd finished eating, couldn't quite get everything else in so have unpacked the clean stuff and re-packed with what was left, will set that to come on once I've put all the brekkie dirties in, then at least we'll have a clean kitchen to come home to before it all starts again!!

Am going in to work at bit earlier today to open up with one of my colleagues, just hope she isn't late as her time-keeping is horrendous - that's if she remembers she's supposed to be coming in early!!

DS2 got a bit of a cold but seems improved so hoping it's on it's way out. Was reasonably productive on Saturday made mince pies, maids of honour, pastry case, twinks hob nobs, so don't think we'll starve!! Dinner tonight is fish, chips/jacket potato, b/beans/veg/salad - so easy dinner as I'm working all day - only got this week and next then have time off in half term week.

Have a great day everyone, hugs to those that need/want them, take care.

Windy here today as well so I have a wash load in to take advantage of it.

Have to go to return some books to the library today, go to see Dr and have a mooch to see if I can find any bargains.

I want to defrost the big chest freezer when I get back ready for Christmas stuff to go in.
I am actually ahead this year and already have a lot of stuff - Turkey, gammon, beef, pork, prawns, sirloin steak (On offer in Aldi) ,braising steak, sausage rolls, cocktail sausages, cheese rolls etc. I just need to make some sweet stuff such as Gateau, mince pies and choux ring etc. I have all the alcohol just got to get mixers and all of the sweeties.

Wow looking at that I didn't quite realise just how much I have, I have just been getting bits all year when I have seen them on offer :D But when it gets colder and I can't get out I know that we will be ok for the winter.

bargainbird Positive vibes hun (((((((((Hugs)))))))) x.

Nice to see you back Shalva, wondered where you were x

Well I had better call DD for college

Very wet and windy here, but mild, washing will be on airer/in TD depending on how much there is to do! Got plumber coming in 15 minutes to start replacing boiler and radiators - glad it's stayed mild so we haven't needed the heating on.

DS (4.5) sick last night so not going to school - think it's just his cold settling on his stomach, but better having a quiet day at home and getting right than making him go and it turning it out to be worse.

Going to do a load of tidying/cleaning jobs as we're now at home for the day, and try to start making some of the things I want to give as Christmas presents.

Have a good morning all, hugs and kisses to those in need. :)

Had a busy weekend sorting the house, got the crib yesterday... over two weeks later... but I am just pleased it's here! I'm finally in the third trimester today (still hovering at an all time weight low!) but I have made it :)

DS has an upset tummy, I somehow slept through it all and DH sorted it all out... looks like a few days off school (we have a child with Cancer at the school, so it's especially important he doesn't go back to soon!)

I made lemon drizzle cake for the first time yesterday... I wish I was allowed to try just a little... looks so yummy! So much easier to make then banana cake... we are thinking orange drizzle cake soon :)

Well I have bits to do, bread to bake and washing to wash!

    Have a great day x
