Sorry you missed out on the discount 'week' Tete. I hate paying more than I feel I should.
Glass glass is going really well, we're learning to solder tonight. So far I have two Christmas decorations ready to solder, and a Christmas angel. When I get them finished I'll post a pic. Need a bigger project to start next week though, see me through the last 6 weeks of class.Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

I hate it too, might ask about opening a store card for extra discount ...
Any ideas what you'll do for your project? I remember my cousin making a lampshade a few years ago, very impressive!Weightloss: 14.5/65lb0 -
I've been told not to make anything with curves for my first project. It also needs to be quite easy to transport as I can't leave anything at the school. I really want to make mum a sort of candelabra for Christmas, but I think that will need to be an outside class project. I'm thinking I'm going to end up with just some kind of panel.Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

How annoying about the coat Tete! I am hoping to get some boots from OH for my birthday too. It is good to get them as presents but a bit boring!
American halloween sounds great! OH won't let me buy Poppy a costume as we aren't going to anything but i have heard that there is a dress up thing at one of the baby groups so may have to do it.
Looking forward to seeing pics of the christmas decorations, they sound great!0 -
You HAVE to dress Poppy as a pumpkin, and thn as a CVjristmas pud - it's the law!
It was a square lampshade Dinah, all soldered together I think. I can't think of anything non-curved. Maybe a square vase thing?Weightloss: 14.5/65lb0 -
Not sure my soldering would hold up to water! I was thinking something like a lidless jewellery box type thing (4 stained glass sides and a plain bottom) as I don't know how to make a hinge.Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

Yup! Liddless. Entirely impractical. Shame I can't think of anything manly made of stained glass I could make someone for Christmas!Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

Glass class sounds really good, wish we had fun things round here. No idea what to suggest to make for your project though, maybe a little panel but with somewhere to put a nightlight behind so it glows?
Very annoying about the coat Tete, open the store card to get the extra money off so then you don't feel as ripped off!
I agree that it is the law to dress your baby in silly costumes at Halloween and Christmas! The outfits just get better and cuter every year! My old boss dressed her baby as a pumpkin last year, he looked very unimpressed (yet adorable) in the photos and her OH banned her from dressing him up again!Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!Goal Weight 140lb Starting Weight: 160lb Current Weight 145lb0 -
Also, TPA you will be glad to hear I've listened to your advice. We had already agreed to no holidays until the debt is gone, with the exception of one trip to Ireland next year (around £150 for flights plus hire car and petrol, and I don't feel comfortable not having NIM see family at least once a year especailly when you have grandparents around), and the moral of hard and fast is no treats, no spending. We have decided since we're setting ourselves such an ambitious target any month we meet it (average of £104 a day paid off) we are allowed £30 to go on a date night. If we don't beat it, no date night.
With regards to your comments about starting a family, we could get by on SMP and NIMs salary, or NIMs salary and mine half time-ish, so this is obviously also a big incentive to us.
ETA: Nim knows our baby will be a snowman/pumpkin/reindeer at every opportunity. I think he accepts it as a small price to pay if he finally wins me over to the baby-making team!Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008
