Congrats on passing the driving test Shrimpy. How many lessons did you do?

Thanks CMD! I'm afraid I had quite a lot but I did start 8 years ago :o Maybe 8 ish when I first started, then tried again in 2006 ish, probably had around 10 (all one hour lessons).

When I started 'properly' this June, I had 9 lessons (18 hours) with an instructor I just couldn't gel with, didn't seem to make any progress at all. I switched to a new instructor and did a 20 hour intensive week which was brilliant, then 4 or 5 two hour lessons leading up to my test. Failed first time, and had another 5 two hour lessons between then and now. Because I started such a long time ago it feels like I have had millions of lessons! 76ish hours is above average but I didn't have any practise time in between so that would have made a huge difference.

Sorry for giving you the entire potted history of my driving experience, hope I haven't sent you all to sleep! If there's anything else I can tell you, let me know.

And huge congrats on the house too

Lara - sorry to hear the weekend wasn't as good as you expected. Shame about Jamies thing, sounds a bit awkwards sharing tapas with strangers!

Ruby - what a pain about the flatmate, I swear some people just try and be difficult.

CMD - can Evie give Poppy some tips please? Her sleep just gets worse and worse, up every 2 hours at the moment arghh!

The house sounds great, hope you manage to get everything sorted.

I am hoping Poppy will be walking by the time i go back to work when she will be just coming up to 11 months.

Birdie - i love the sound of the retro hour. Does sound like an amazing wedding.

Shrimpy - i had over 70 lessons so don't worry!

Just been to post office to send my best friend in australia christmas card and there was a massive queue, i do love standing in post office queues .

Wendz, I had some eBay stuff to post today and the queue was out the door. They said it was the last posting date for some countries and thats why it was busy? The woman was really rude to me as well when I finally got to the counter. There was an elderly chap in front of me telling one of their staff off - in fairness he was quite justified though as this guy (in a suit but not the manager I don't think) was just standing looking at the queue, I'm sure he could have found something a little bit more constructive to do!). Tensions were running high! My Mum used to manage that Post Office years ago and everyone is always telling me it's gone downhill!

Sorry to hear Poppy is keeping you awake though, when you describe her she always sounds full of playful energy, she must be too excited to sleep all the time!

Birdie the wedding does sound unbelievably good, hot choc bar is an amazing idea! Lol at the naughty magician though!

That would make sense , think it was last day for Australia. Post offices always seem to be stressful.

That is my theory, that she has an active mind lol. I don't mind too much as have got used to it but looking forward to when she sleeps longer.

  • I'm so out of the loop again!

Congratulations Shrimpy on the old driving test. Even though I've been driving for years its quite weird to think I can go anyway (in the style of Tommy Cooper) just like that :D

    Hope everyone else is good

I'm failing a bit on the MSE side - I've had an expensive November and not had much to sell so am praying for pay day! Bought myself some new weighing scales as I've got my eye on a jacket and it's $200! I have promised myself that for every lb I lose I'm going to put $10 in a VSP

    I don't think I'll ever get that jacket! :(

Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!
