Thanks all ....... didn't sleep that well
One thing I am missing (never thought I'd miss anything about hospital:o) is the adjustable bed - I'm struggling to lie flat / need to move height a lot (tummy is sore) and being able to move the bed a few inches was fab - ended up with loads of pillows being flung around all over the place .....
Anyway, glad to be home.
Braved looking at my bank account and thankfully there's been enough in the account to cover everything - energy supplier has managed to take the higher figure again (£88 instead of £70) despite being assured it would be sorted for this month - so that's an email to fire off today.
Also need to cancel the cats expensive insurance - should've been done a fortnight ago (once the exclusion period for the new one was up) but couldn't do beforehand - around £10/month saved there :TGrocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)

Boiler insurance has now expired :eek::eek: which has saved £19 / month - however, I really need to stick this away somewhere as a) it will need serviced before the end of the year and b) in case it breaks down.:eek::eek: Hopefully sorted ..... see below
Glad I managed to pay the car insurance in full when I changed the car (with a bit of juggling within the car pot) as it'll make a big difference putting the putting £20 aside each month without having to pay the current year by d/debit too!Grocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)

Keep your fingers crossed ..... have managed to find someone who covers older boilers - and it costs less than I was paying :T @ £12.90 / month.
Need to have an inspection done to check they can still get the parts for the boiler which has been booked in for next week (might as well get it done while I'm off if I can!).Grocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)

Wow, the smoking money soon mounts up doesn't it? - it really brings it home how expensive it is - that's a big lump out of your monthly budget and I'd venture to suggest you could do better with that money than burning it...:rotfl::silenced:;)
SLSave £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)
OS Grocery Challenge in 2025 I am at £1286.68/£3000 or 42.89% of my annual spend so far

My new diary is here0 -
Ohhhh it does SL - I was actually at the lower end of the scale on cig spending as I hand rolled them and worked it out at about £2.50 / day (and prob one of the reasons I kept justifying it to myself that it wasn't that expensive) - if you think the equivalent proper cigs would be around £7 /day :eek:.
Will keep track of the costs in my sig I think - they were always bought weekly on the cc (paid each month) so hopefully should start to see a bit of a difference when the next bill arrives(and a difference in the bank balance as I never really had the costs deducted in the SOA)
Might stick the amount away each month and see how it mounts up!:)Grocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)

It's all looking good and you know what's happening with everything which is a very good sign
and good luck with quitting smoking - it'll save you money and make you feel better, what's not to like there?

OK ..... so up at silly o'clock again (4:30am
) but did manage to sleep a bit better last night :T
Have made a total t*ts up of the budgets the last couple of months - partly down to taking my eye off the ball (should really know better by now ) and partly down to changing the car unexpectedly and the extra costs that brought.
BUT how to sort it out ..... ended up doing some serious pot raiding to try to stem the level of the OD- very short term solution tho' as now not really going to be enough in them to pay things when they're due and feeling very uncomfortable about that. (Owe House & car fund £150, Pets £100 and Others £100 = Total of £350:eek:)
Not sure whether to just whallop it all back onto the OD and pay off as I can ..... *sigh* why is budgeting still so bloomin' hard?
On a positive - discovered that my pet insurance had been collecting the d/debit for the old cancelled policy as well as the new one so £60 refunded to account :T (but really just swallowed up by OD:()
Need to get a grip ....... new spending diary starting on 1st Nov (again:o) and really need to keep track of every single £ ....... every penny's a prisoner & all that - sure there's a thread about that somewhere .... off for a hunt.Grocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)

OK - decided I need to do some stock taking in the house ..... I am a hoarder
(everything) and do bulk buy when stuff is on good offers to try to offset costs (and works well when you're not struggling & can afford to but not good if you're in debt and adding to it IYKWIM).
So - have loads of toiletries / cleaning stuff etc so will stock take all these & stick the list somewhere so I'm not tempted to buy more just now when things are tight & need sorting outGrocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)
