re the budgeting, i'm also rubbish at it, and i've been thinking of going on a CAP course - https://www.capmoney.org/en_GB/home

    i believe they are free.

Ohhhh, didn't know about them, will def have a look into them! Ta:D

..... there's one in Edinburgh so "do-able" - the next one starts in Jan which probaly isn't the best time as the weather's usually pretty terrible then & it's a booger of a journey (very rural where I am) when the weather's bad - will keep an eye out and see if there's more in Spring time - ta!

    I didn't know you had a diary :D

    *subscribes*

LOL Fresian - it's probably the most boring diary around:o and I really don't write in it often enough!

I'm aiming to be much better at it next year ... I was going to wait until the NY before starting but thought it would be better to get some practice / try to get into the habit now!

I did eventually manage to get dressed & out today which was a bit of an achievement:o. Only down to Mr A but still......

£18 spent which wasn't too bad - milk still taking up a lot of my spends (£8/week) but that's not going to change so need to save money elsewhere. Few bits of whoopsied fruit & veg too which I wasn't expecting at lunchtime on Sat (don't usually do then so don't know if it was a one off).

Managed to keep busy for a while this afternoon - sorted out bags of sand for the car (helps with weight in wind / ice / snow) and sorted a few bits for the "emergency kit" in it.

Then curled up on the sofa with wee cat and fell asleep:o - managed to see qualifying 1 of the F1 and woke up when they were doing the interviews at the end which was very frustrating!

Still horrendously windy out there - loads of things flying around outside ...... hope Teeny's (car) OK out there, I do worry about things blowing into her - which should inspire me to finish clearing the garage out soon!

OK, New Year and yet another new start :o

Have neglected this diary for far too long ...... so, being positive and trying to move onwards and upwards as they say.

    Plans for today are:

    1) Rubberise the chicken I had last night (1 meal) - hoping to get at least 7 main meals (Chicken & Leek Risotto x 2, Chicken Curry x 4 and another roast), as well as stock and some soup.

Going to be a "cooky" day - need to get that chicken picked first so I've time to make the stock & soup for lunch!

    2) Find the cashbook I got the other day (65p) for my new spending diary :):)

    3) Have another check of the budgets so I know exactly what I've got for the rest of the month (not a lot as paid the enormous cc bill yest:( ... don't ever want one like that again!)

    4) Do a stock take of the cupboards and write a list of what to get at Mr A (£8.50 off a £40 shop valid until the 11th) and Mr S (£10 off £50 spend valid until the 16th).

Pity they're so close together, but too much money off to waste so will stock up on staples if all else fails!:)

    5) Finish tidying house - made good progress yesterday (slipped so much in the past few weeks)

    6) Make a list of MSE resolutions for the year - it's in my head atm but need to get it on paper so I stick to it!!!!!

OK so just been and checked my pots to check whether they're going to cover expenditure needed (only started part way through year) and how much to put away to make up any shortfall - then moving on:

This may take a while;) but I need to get it down to refer to!

Well, if anyone was in any doubt that the fridge/freezer had wiped me out .... Ohhhhhhh dear

    Emergencysavings.jpg

Note: must close old dormant savings account (£50ish in) and transfer to emergency fund

Note: currently overpaying to household bills account by £45 / month ... (extra wiped out by vet bill so effectively a £0 balance at present)

Need to work out exactly what to put in here each month - what do I want it to cover and what I want the household one to cover?

    Boilersavings-1.jpg

mmmmmmm - lets hope it keeps going for a few more years:eek:

Also need to start thinking about saving for when the car needs replaced .... currently £10/month going to CU account (also wiped out by f/f replacement:o)

Note: increase to £25 (savings from bike payments finishing)
