Need a wee reminder for myself as had a slight panic as I couldn't find my Emergency Fund :o - also need a note of how much goes to each pot as it's a bit harder than smaller amounts to lots of different ones :o

    House & Car
    Pot - £107
Buildings & Contents Insurance - £15 (paying £25 until end May)
    Landline Advance Rental - £12
    Emergency Fund - £25
    Car Insurance - £20
Car (Tax, breakdown cover, servicing, MOT etc) - £35

    Pets - £90
    Dog - £40
    Cats - £50

    Others - £90.91
    Hair - £8.50
    Dentist - £10
    Clothes - £20
    Presents - £10
    Anything else - £42.41
    Fuel - *
    Groceries - *

    * still to get in advance on these (what the round-down savings one is for)[STRIKE] - was doing OK with Anything Else but it's now rather overspent :o so have removed until I can get it sorted![/STRIKE] sorted!

  • What to do today ......

    Needs
Fuel :( (Dinky's very thirsty just now!)
Groceries - friends coming for dinner tonight:j so need a few bits - not a lot tho' *

    * managed to dig chicken breasts out the freezer to make a casserole (with Camp*bells condensed soup ;) - also out of stocks) so just need some veg for that
    * Apple & blackberries also dug out the freezer so will be making crumble (yum:D) but will need some cream ....

    Must do
Quick tidy up & flick round with the hoover
    Tidy / clean kitchen
Loads of washing - still raining :(

    BUT ..... first I need my breakfast!:D

  • Beeping typical ..... just back from Mr A - 8 miles down the road and it's lovely and sunny there!

Still pelting down here:(.... washing hanging everywhere & still 2 loads to try to do:eek:

Doing OK - kitchen & bathroom cleaned & downstairs hoovered .... might have to stop anyone going upstairs tho':o

  • Others pot

Think I've sorted the anything else budget :j - might be a slight bit of cheating ... but needs must:o

I've taken £20 out my £2 coin jar (value of these has been decimated this week:o) and used that to cover the cost of the crochet course (next Sat :j - can't wait)

This may sound nuts but it does honestly make sense! £20 coins to be paid into main account (money already transferred from this to the others pot) and I'll take £20 cash out of the TSB account (still need to get £105 from there to my main account to cover the advance landline rental payment) ..... so I'm down to trying to figure out how to move £85!

    Good morning Rising!
    How are you doing today?
It was actually hailing here yesterday morning, so i considered cancelling our day out, but decided to go for it anyway. Good job we did, as by the time we got near wadebridge, it was beautiful! We had a brilliant day out, for £6 for all 3 of us!

You are inspiring me to give my house a good clean and tidy. It really needs it, so might have to get that done today :)

    Have a great day!
  • Thanks Cleggie - glad to hear you had a great day out yesterday .... and very MSE:j

Having a lazy day today :o never stopped yesterday but we had a lovely meal last night & all I had to buy for it was veg (pots, leeks, carrots, mushrooms & ys swede) and cream!:) Everything else came out of stocks:T. All my cupboards and both freezers are crammed :o so really need to make May a "eat out of" challenge month!

It's just so tempting when you see stuff on offer @ sm to buy more ..... must do an inventory of the freezers again (need to find room to squeeze several portions of chicken casserole LO from last night in:eek:) - might be a job for later.

I did get up earlier but went back to bed to watch the London Marathon - really take my hats off to everyone who runs & raises loads of money for great causes:T (still watching!).

Then have the F1 starting at 5 ..... so .... have 3 hours to do something useful in! Still if I don't go out - I can't spend!:D

  • OK .... I have really, really screwed up somewhere:(

Usually I keep track in a spreadsheet and transfer the spent amounts from the relevant pots to my main account on payday and use this to pay the cc bill .... this month, I've tried to do 2 new things together (which in hindsight probably wasn't the best idea!:o) as I've combined several groups of pots together and have been trying to transfer money from them to my main account as I spend.

Great in theory ..... except I seem to have gone very wrong somewhere :o I have a BIG shortfall :( - as I closed the "redundant" pots, I can't back-track to see what I have / haven't transferred

I am absolutely useless at budgeting!

Anyway .... I'm going to be absolutely broke in May (seriously ..... by the time I've put money into the bills account, paid the cc bill and the pots ....there isn't anything left (and is a rather large shortfall:() - please, please tell me budgeting gets easier as I'm still really, really struggling with it!

I'm due a refund from my "new" ISP that didn't work out & the contract was cancelled - praying this hits the cc account before I need to pay the bill......

  • OK .... think I've figured out where I've gone wrong - partly down to getting many budgets to the figure they should be, when there was nothing in them before!:o

The coin money to be paid to my bank account (to cover the new printer which isn't on this months' cc bill) will now have to go towards this months' bill  and I'll have to worry about paying for that next month! (maybe from the emergency fund ....)

    Hey ho ..... till learning!:)
